Worst Job / Best JobFollow

#27 Dec 09 2011 at 7:37 AM Rating: Good
Worst job: Tarping trailers full of drywall. It was all physical work, and not mental gratification.

Best job: Production supervisor at a drywall plant (my current job). It is a lot of work, but I get to think, too. I don't like having to discipline people on an official basis at all, but sadly it comes with the job.

Hey, I have a question. Has anyone here used those Dr. Scholls insoles that are 'fitted' via a kiosk? Eight hours of zipping around a factory a day leaves my feet aching.

I find it interesting that over half the people who posted say their current job is their best job. Of course, I suppose that if you find a job you enjoy, you're in no hurry to move along.

It's creepy that people don't like being paperboys?

I didn't particularly like being a paper boy, but I got to work by myself, and it paid for my gameboy, so I'm not complaining.

It was probably worse here in winterpeg given that you still had to deliver papers when it was -40

My favorite job was the summer and fall I spent painting houses. We had a crew of four, and most of our jobs were near the beach. The exterior work was really fun, and I liked the sense of accomplishment after completing a house. Interior work is balls, but the pay was good and I liked the people I was with.

Worst job was the nearly two years I recently spent without full-time employment. Applying for many jobs every day, scouring Craigslist for painting/handyman/grunt work to keep afloat wasn't fun.

Now I'm working at a t-shirt shop (that I've been at on and off since 2002), and hopefully I'll finish up my degree in the next two years, and figure out what the **** I want to do.

The pay isn't anything to write home about. Decent, maybe a little better than that, but the benefits are otherwordly. Smiley: laugh

I do wish I had an employer 401(k) plan here.

Given that I've only had 2 "real" jobs, this is quite easy.

Worst Job: McDonalds. I've worked on and off throughout school and wanted to quit on the first day. It was fun when I was around other teens, but the "older folk" didn't like us having fun while working and it often became a factory environment.

Best Job: My current job. As a Signal Officer, I get yelled at on a daily basis for any random form of communication not working at any given time, but the knowledge, money and overall benefits heavily outweigh that.
