The suspect remains on the loose. They believe the suspect is still armed

Does anyone remember the days when this stuff was shocking?
I predict that in a few years shooting rampages will be as widely reported (and regarded) as car accidents.

I'm glad the rest of the world is such a great place! I'm sure the inner goodness of humanity will start to prevail.. one day.. right?Smiley: rolleyes

Remember when it took more than two people to be considered a rampage?

Remember when things happened all over the world that we had no knowledge of?

I'm less concerned about the level of reporting by the media as the level of killing. Have 'shooting rampage' incidence rates increased over time? Sure, since kids have gotten more and more easy access to guns they have, but what's the trend look like?

The shooting came the same day as Virginia Tech, which has an enrollment of about 30,000, was appealing a $55,000 fine by the U.S. Education Department in connection with the university's response to the 2007 rampage, when a student gunman killed 32 students and faculty and then shot himself.

Assassin hired by Dept. of Education to sabotage the appeal? Smiley: tinfoilhat

Didn't he try to run over a hooker to get his money back and ended up getting shot by the police after a high speed chase?

Oh What Ever; so if the guy killed more than some prerequisite number of people it makes it less of what it is? Get back on the flower bus to dream land.
and the point was less this incident that happened today and the string of these events

Michigan
Ohio
Oregan
North Carolina

All within the last 6 months

Kid's have easier access to guns now than they did any other time in American history? Really? and you really have to ask if these things are increasing over time? Seriously? You think stuff just hasn't been reported?
I'm not saying that these things are something new.. just that back in the day when we threatened to shoot up a school we usually weren't serious.

No way, man; I quite prefer leaving the hippie-glasses off and seeing the awful truth of what standard human society is and has always been and always will be.
This doesn't make me enjoy my life any less; it just keeps me on my toes to we aware of where this world is heading.

It's making me enjoy MY life less. Not because of any deep revelation, but because you sound like a damn 15 year old who decided to move into the basement, wear a lot of silver jewelry and smoke clove cigarettes.

I respect you enough NOT to believe that what I post on a forum makes you enjoy your life less.. I don't believe that this forum is your life despite you being much of the fabric that holds this forum together. That is not flattery; just observation.

I smile to know that no matter how amusing your plethora of postings and debates are; that I will still always be a better dancer than you.Smiley: wink2

I bet most people that threaten to shoot up a school now are not serious either. That's why I'm asking if the rates of intentional death by shooting continue to go up assuming the availability of guns has not significantly changed in the last decade or two.

There's a well established hierarchy to these things and this was definitely short of a rampage.

1 kill: A murder
2 kills: Double murder
5 kills: Killing spree
15 kills: Rampage
30+ kills: Massacre
