It's an exercise in futility to use reason to argue against what is unreasonable.

fake Christianity? I got news for you. The fake Christians are the ones that are afraid to talk about it; and the verses that Bijou quoted were totally out of context and I pray that he puts a little more thought into the meaning of those scriptures before he attacks another Christian with them.. and I pray he review Matthew 12:30 Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

Then again, I'm not the one that brought up religion here; you guys did, because you have no reasonable arguments against what I am saying.
I continue to find it confusing that the people who claim to be "real" Christians seem to have completely forgotten about the points mentioned by Bijou, or have somehow added exclusions to those points so they can go and hate everyone who isn't on the exact same side as them. What happens that makes your focus go from love thy neighbor to whoever is not with me is against me? Do you get so insecure in your beliefs that anyone who disagrees has to be evil or is it some misguided attempt at converting all the poor souls who haven't yet found your only true way?

Don't you all remember that speech where Jesus who said that anyone who didn't believe in his divinity is evil and would spend eternity screaming in agony? Well, shit, I can't seem to find it.

I could find something from a great Christian theologist and author:

C.S. Lewis wrote:
‘Lord, is it then true… that thou and Tash are one?’ The Lion growled so that the earth shook and said, ‘It is false. Not because he and I are one, but because we are opposites.

For I and he are of such different kinds that no service which is vile can be done to me, and none which is not vile can be done to him. Therefore, if any man swear by Tash and keep his oath for the oath’s sake, it is by me that he has truly sworn, and it is I who reward him. And if any man do a cruelty in my name, then it is Tash whom he serves and by Tash his deed is accepted. Dost thou understand, Child?’ I said, ‘Lord, thou knowest how much I understand.’

From my perspective, fundamentally a Christian's role is to be Jesus to people. The only understanding I can get from reading the new testament seems to be that I should then focus on helping people and not condemning them. It's about showing love.

Religious believers tend to interpret their religion literally when often a religion is supposed to be interpreted figuratively.

You're free to have whatever viewpoint you want. But if you are going to be a judgmental tool and try to force it on the rest of us then yes, I'm going to judge you.

Jesus didn't exclude anybody, so...yes.

At the risk of annoyoing folk:

But we're dirty lazy liberals. If God's gonna give us free redemption why would we not sin at will?

That's what confession is for. I can do whatever I want and all I have to do is tell some olde dude in a box the sordid details, and a few Hail Marys afterwards I'm good to go.

No, it just means that all those people aren't using Critical Thinking.

That's not the point.

Religious believers tend to alternately interpret their religion literally and figuratively whenever each one suits their purposes.

I don't think that's unique to religious believers. Many (most, all?) will interpret or tilt our beliefs/data/sources to make our point or suit our purpose.
