Varus touched on this story in another thread. Just for giggles, Entertainment Weekly ran a story breaking favorite shows along partisan lines (via some survey). They didn't specify that this list is in actual order of preference or what the percentages were:

Democrat Favorites Republican Favorites
==================                                 ====================

The Haunted Divorce Court

Also hated was a handful of other shows I'm too lazy to format.

I've never heard of half of these shows. What is Swamp Loggers, and why do Democrats hate it while Republicans like it?

Republicans hating Dexter and The Walking Dead? As if I needed another reason to never be a Republican.

Think along the lines of 'Deadliest Catch' only they're in a swamp in NC cutting down trees.

Out of the Democrat favorites, the only one I follow with any regularity is Always Sunny. I like Modern Family every time I catch it on but never set out to watch it.

Out of the Pubbie favs, I watch Pawn Stars on a slow Saturday now and then. I agree with them that Weeds sucks. I made it through 2.5 episodes.

I'm conservative, not a Republican redneck.

There's a couple of shows on there I like, but by far and large, it's all utter sh*t.

Edit: Having reread it, the only shows on the lists I do like are hated by one of the groups, but not on the favourite list of the other.

I watch 5 of the Democrat ones (Daily Show, Colbert, 30 Rock, Sunny, Office) and exactly 0 of the Republican ones. Not much of a shocker that age seems to be a big divider here.

But honestly, how can anyone like Leno? Smiley: confused

See, I can actually wrap my brain around that one. Some people like watching B-list celebrities out of their comfort zone, or say, watching the inevitable, feel-good conclusion that is the disfigured military vet winning it all. My fiance told me about that guy after the first episode, and I said "Oh, well that's who wins." Not for me, but meh.

Leno though...who would want to watch a comedian punt his way through an hour of stale, safe, tepid humor? It's sad, and I have to wonder what sort of blackmail that guy is holding on to.

Hell, the only thing I watch on a regular basis - i.e. a few times a week - is cooking shows when I'm at the gym, and I'm still upset that Food Network swapped out Five Ingredient Fix with Ten Dollar Dinner at the 2:30 PM EST slot. Lol! No. I tend to watch scifi (or syfy?) shows mostly. My current lineup is stuff like Sanctuary, Fringe, Warehouse13, Eureka, Haven, Terra Nova, Falling Skies, etc. I do watch CSI (the original one), and I've started watching Person of Interest lately (it's interesting, but not sure how long it'll last). That's plenty of hours of TV each week, but none of them are on the list. Oh. And for my one reality TV splurge, I still watch Survivor. Mostly because some friends of mine are into it, and we like to talk about what's going on with each season. I also catch the serial based cable stuff like Sparticus and Game of Thrones.

I watch tons of stuff (more than I should some weeks), but nothing on any of those lists.

Same reason they think it's ironically hip to wear bowling shirts or mechanics' shirts (even better if it has someone else's name on the patch)

Although I read somewhere once upon a time that PBR's inroads with the hipster crowd was fairly carefully planned and marketed. Sort of like idiots deciding that Grey Goose was a premium vodka.
