Why not both? Get a 3-cheese steak "vegetable". Extra large.

And, today, it's estimated that 25% of the population is too fat to join the military.

Well, Gbaji says that "nutrition" means to just shove them full of whatever the fuck we have laying around just so they don't die in the streets so he's probably right. Gbaji's always right when he's defining words for us in ways that make no sense on the surface, but I'm certain that it's just... obvious?

It is estimated that this % has no quantifiable impact on whether or not schools should be the ones required to handle the diets of children. Especially when healthy options exist presently. This number does signify however that Americans in general either,

A. Haven't got as much time to prepare healthy meal choices and instead opt for quicker meals, be they fast food, or microwaveable meals in a box. This is symbolic of the current economical situation where families often work varying shifts, or multiple jobs, just to keep a roof over their heads, clothes on their back, and hopefully food on the table.

B. Are to lazy to care for themselves, and opt to have food made ready to eat, from similar sources to the above.

While it is unfortunate that Americans are getting fatter, the onus to change shouldn't be placed on the government, it should be placed on the people. If a parent wants their kids to eat a salad at lunch then they should send their kid with salad, or hope the kid makes the proper choice in their eating habits when getting food from a cafeteria.

By you, I guess. Your opinion is noted. You also continue to completely miss the point but I guess you get an opinion regardless.

Hey don't paint me as a piece of sh*t. I think that eating right starts at home. If all a kid sees is MCD's and Pizza then obviously they will think of that as good food. The issue lies in education of good/bad food, at home and in school. Money i probably better spent telling kids why eating the chicken fingers is probably better than eating the mexifries.

(i m also hoping i missed a joke, because 25% of americans being to fat to join the army is an arbitrary number.)

The western world is fat? Watch Wall-E, its a clever story that portrays well what automation is doing to us. We are getting fatter because we have made our lives easier. The Automobile, Fast Food, Debit, Computer/TV/Phones. We have made the world so accessible, and it requires us less effort physically, and mentally to do stuff. The world is getting fat and dumb the further we advance our obsession oh having our menial tasks completed for us so we have more free time to do nothing.

This is what happens when you cut spending on technology. We should be getting our food Jetson style by now.

This morning on the radio was a story about chocolate milk. Many schools are cutting it from the lunch menus because of the sugar. Apparently runners and other endurance athletes, however, have taken to drinking chocolate milk as a recovery beverage after work-outs.

Gah. Last thing I want when hot and exhausted is a big glass of milk. Much less chocolate milk.

Chocolate milk works the same as any sports drink, like Gatorade, except it has far far less salt.

You want salt if you're trying to retain water, especially for endurance sports.

Presumably the added protein helps the muscles recover.

What's wrong with chocolate donuts for breakfast?

I made pancakes for breakfast a lot for my kids - with lots of different fillings and toppings. They often requested chocolate chip pancakes. My rule was no choc chip pancakes on school days - I'd only make them on weekends. I don't know why. It just seemed like the motherly thing to do.

Diabetes?

Nevermind that the family in question was morbidly obese.

Donuts for breakfast aren't going to get you diabetes, there's far more to it than that. Besides, maybe the donut was made with whole wheat flour instead of white and maybe the
chocolate dip was made with splenda. At that point, it would actually become a recommended breakfast item.
