Here in Maine, we're mostly looking at three referendums of controversy:

The first is a question to repeal a law the legislature passed earlier this year that would require registration to vote at least two days prior to voting. Currently we have same day registration. I'll be voting 'yes' to overturn the law and keep same day registration as there has been no evidence of any voter fraud issues or what-not because of this allowance.

We have two questions on new Casinos. Pandora's box of gambling was opened here about 6-7 years ago when we voted in approval for a slot-machine casino and more recently another casino that is still under construction. I think I'm voting yes as it just seems like the equitable thing to do but with hopes that so many casinos will sprout up they'll just cannibalize each other. Maybe not though, I might just vote 'no' because I'm not really a Casino supporter - and because of their stupid campaigns that try and convince us these casinos would bring in jobs and revenue and strengthen the community etc, etc.. - gag me.

This is pretty true. Seems to me that OOB would be the place to put a casino.

Justice of the Supreme Court for the 11th Judicial District, a District Attorney who is running unopposed, and a City Council member for the 28th Council District who is also running unopposed.

Fine, but when you have a liberal mayor that starts enacting liberal policy, you'll have no one to blame but yourself.

Today I'm going to vote for a 31 year old Harvard educated music teacher for Boston City Council.

Oh, and not vote for Flaherty so he can't run against Menino again. I wanna hear Menino (who's not up for re-election)lisp through press conferences forever!

I'm kinda sad about the next election, as I would totally vote for Scott Brown again.

If Martha Coakley wasn't running against him!

IIRC, here in Jersey we have a vote on the inclusion of sports betting at casinos.

I'm fairly "meh" on it, slightly on the side of allowing it. I guess I could see tossing down a football bet in Atlantic City once or twice. Not a big issue for me, though.

Maybe, though I always thought that Vegas was the only place you could do sports betting. I just heard a blurb about it on the radio as I was getting out of my car, so it's possible that I'm off somewhere. Perhaps they want to take it away?

Most of the rest of the counties in the state are voting Yay or Nay to Sunday alcohol sales. Our county has opted to wait until next year and include it on the presidential ballot, rather than have it this year and risk the fundies overwhelming the polls and saying nope.

So we're voting on ESPLOST, an extra 1 cent sales tax to pay for educational stuff. It's just a renewal of the existing tax so chances are it is going to go through.

Oh come on, I'm sure you at least have your monthly zoning referendums on the gentrification of your cities by the local bear population.

I'd like you to notice that the person that makes the most noise about politics doesn't vote.
