However, that wasn't the point and that's why I specifically stated behavior. That is untrue, by definition. A person who is conservative resists change, by definition. A person who is liberal (or progressive) is more positive toward change, by definition.

Perhaps you have a flashcard that might help you with this.

That is a general broad statement, hence the word "most". My counter is that you can replace "conservatives" with "liberals" and the statement would be equally as accurate.

Not really. As a generalization, conservatives favor the status quo while liberals favor change, that's why liberals are called progressives.

Just look at some major political positions. Liberals want to change the status of *** marriage, conservatives want to keep it the same. Liberals want to radically alter health care to a more universal system, conservatives want want small improvements to the existing private system. Liberals would banning guns, while conservatives want us to keep having them. Liberals want to get rid of the death penalty while conservatives want it to remain.

The in the few situations where the situation is reversed, it's usually around an issue that has recently been altered. For example, abortion is legal and liberals want it to remain so while conservatives want that to change. However legalized abortion is a recent development. Conservatives want to change it back. The same for states where *** marriage is already legal. Conservatives favor change there, but they favor changing it back to how it was before.

The very word conservative means to be predisposed to existing conditions and cautious of change.

Of course conservatives and liberals have different views on subjects, but their behavior in lying, deceiving, smear ads, avoiding the question, etc are common in both parties,

I know! It's probably not an actual or even electronic list though. It's probably just a mental list... a mental Alma list.

- I had to work through a year of ******* tests to get that Aspergers label goddamnit!
- If Alma is autistic he can't really help much of his problems and I couldn't blame him for them, I'd rather just call him an idiot.
- I can't say I like seeing autism used as an insult.

If all you wanted to say was "Ha ha, liberals have done bad things too," then you should have said it directly instead of inaccurately claiming the two demographics behaved the same. You're boiling off all sense of nuance or degree.

Tom Brady has played a lot of football. Chad Cascadden has played a lot of football. But they don't behave the same in football. They play different positions on different teams with a different amount of skill.

Trying to call liberals and conservatives two sides of the same coin in an ethical context is an oversimplification that while being a great sound bite (especially to Ron Paul fans), does not serve as an accurate criticism.

If you don't agree with an encyclopedia defining conservatives as traditionalists resistant to transformation and if you don't find conservative conservative policies to be generally favoring status quo, then I don't see what I can do.
