The radical liberals have succeeded in weakening the armed forces, once again. It's sad that they've turned the military into their own little social experiment.

From the crowd booing a gay soldier serving in Iraq to Santorum insisting that allowing him to openly serve is a "special privilege" we're giving gays that they shouldn't get, no part of this is anything but pathetic.

Wow. He really danced around that question, didn't he?

Edit: Oh wait, no, at the end he said that he'd go back to DADT, but "not kick him out." Except that's exactly what DADT would do. Huh. Didn't think that one through, did he?

Apparently Mr. Santorum (and a few audience members) believes the repeal of DADT is that TEH GAYZ get a carte blanche on sexual activity.

Also: Apparently letting children watch Chaz Bono on Dancing with the Stars will turn them transgender.

It's as well thought out as Rick Perry's "We need to get our troops out of the Middle East but we also need to leave a presence there" answer.

Do they in any other military in the world that allows homosexuals to serve? I don't expect you to be able to answer that knowledgeably.

Ignorant civilians and politicians that never served. Or are you going to pretend it has something to do with diseases that makes enlistment and deployment impossible? "Oh but they can lie!" On extensive blood tests?

Why does Varus keep talking about figs?

Also, I'm guessing the military codes on sodomy being against the rules are still on the books?

Yes. I'd explain why, but you're incaapble of comprehending the answer.

Some day, hopefully soon, the social conservatives are going to cede power back to the fiscal conservatives, and we can finally have a principled GOP instead of a bunch of walloping yahoos.

You know who else didn't allow gays into the military?!

I remember absentmindedly listening to the news this morning and, of course, there's this huge focus on Republican primaries. I remember one of the candidates referring to the repeal as a "social experiment" and I facepalmed. Why do they hate our troops?!?!

Contrary to the mongering going on, the only thing that changed is that there won't be consequences to admitting that you're gay. It's actually such a minor change that the amount of talk about is mind numbing. Which, coincidentally, is the state your mind needs to be in if you think there's any issue here.

Not that I actually blame Santorum for his stance. These debates are only about one thing: Getting votes. What's going to garner more favor from the majority than "TEH GAYS ARE BAD" ? Politics haven't been about real issues for the last 40ish years anyway.

Coincidentally, I don't remember seeing a single fig during my last deployment. Maybe he's on to something?

Or was "Waaaahhhh" the sound a Republican makes when they find out that the guy is actually allowed to honorably serve his nation regardless of where his ***** has been?

Santorum is an evangelical nutjob who'd be hating the gays no matter how it polled.

I wonder if Megyn gave the question to him so he could take the bullet rather than a candidate who actually matters. Of course, I missed the other candidates jumping to the defense of gays serving in the military. If you had said one of them once thought modern horses evolved from the same branch as eohippus though, they'd interrupt a question about Medicare to give a five minute rebuttal.
