If all you wanted to say was "Ha ha, liberals have done bad things too," then you should have said it directly instead of inaccurately claiming the two demographics behaved the same. You're boiling off all sense of nuance or degree.

Tom Brady has played a lot of football. Chad Cascadden has played a lot of football. But they don't behave the same in football. They play different positions on different teams with a different amount of skill.

Trying to call liberals and conservatives two sides of the same coin in an ethical context is an oversimplification that while being a great sound bite (especially to Ron Paul fans), does not serve as an accurate criticism.

This, at least, is quantifiably true.

I didn't say that because that wasn't my point. I just used those as examples. You purposely ignored the rest of the post based on it's validity. Address the second portion of the post.

The comment was in reference to "new ideas". Liberals and conservatives equally LOVE new ideas and changes as long as they favor their beliefs. Just because it's new doesn't mean liberals will accept it or conservatives will not accept it. It's not that conservatives don't want change, it's that their belief of "right" doesn't consist of the change that others may desire. That is nothing more than political bashing to make one party seem more disconnected from society. Something that BOTH parties do, hence my statement.

Already did. "As a generalization, conservatives favor the status quo while liberals favor change, that's why liberals are called progressives."

This isn't just an opinion we invented to troll you.

You haven't countered the point. That's my response to that claim.

So basically politicians aren't constrained by a dictionary definition then?

I know, that's why it's wrong.

If you don't agree with an encyclopedia defining conservatives as traditionalists resistant to transformation and if you don't find conservative conservative policies to be generally favoring status quo, then I don't see what I can do.

I think you're more bothered by the tone of Samira's comment about conservatives considering new ideas as dangerous than by the accuracy of the content.

Aspergers? Man, I think they may have misdiagnosed you. It appears that you just have a severe case of the homosh*tforbrains.

Hmm, yeah, that sounds like it could well be the case.

They probably forgot to consult Orion M.D. before making the diagnosis.

According to my records, the only cure is rape while wearing the skin of a ram, followed by forced bloodletting to purify the humours. I may not be a doctor, but I play one on TV.
