For the first time since the 20's. And to the man that gave Rush Limbaugh his start.

Must be nice to be known as "The guy that came after Weiner."

Anyone know if there are exit poll results up somewhere or anything?

Then again they elected some named Weiner and acted surprised that he had a sexting scandal; so I don't know if I want to know what they're thinking now. Smiley: rolleyes

It's something like 54:46 with 88% in.

Eh.

Democrats have been winning every special election for years and I don't recall Varus & Co placing any significance to Democrats recently winning a seat held by the Republicans since the Civil War. Weprin was a shitty candidate running to replace a scandal-ridden Democrat.

Other factors were definitely significant including discontentment with Obama among the wealthy Jewish set. But anyone who had been watching the race for the last couple weeks wasn't surprised.

Oh, and the latest Cook PVI score had NY-9 as +5 Dem. Hardly a home for "radicals" or "deeply Democratic" as some have been presenting it. For example, NY-8 next door is D+22. That's a "deeply Democratic" district.

I was thinking one of those ones where they ask people who they voted for and why. You know, like how much of it was the economic situation, and how much was more of a pro-Israel vote.

Edit: Whoops... The Democrats had an 11 seat winning streak, then the Republicans won 4 (picked up 2, saved 2), followed by two D wins (1 pu, 1 save). Apparently I stopped paying attention to the tally at some point in 2010.

My mistake. I haven't been able to find any. Then again, I can't find anyone here that voted for him either.

He's so intent on pretending to understand politics that he's even making political promises.

Their streak ended right about the time the country realized that the stimulus didn't work. Obviously, each seat and race is going to be different, but the economy clearly is the 800lb gorilla in the room.

Sure, I can agree with the general sentiment there. It hasn't really been a rout though, with Democrats continuing to get some wins since then. Extrapolating too much from special elections is easy to do, though I suppose the wealthy Jewish thing is the biggest takeaway here. Setting aside the poor candidate aspect.

This Turner guy will probably be caught with an underage male Vietnamese escort in the next year or two. Then we'll get it back.

There's plenty of terms on that particular list.
