The server itself is supposed to do a quick check against your last post text whenever you hit submit. If they are identical, it's supposed to give you the duplicate post message. Sometimes when things are bogged down for a second for some reason that check fails to occur. Certain lag conditions on a phone will also do the trick, if the two post submits actually end up transmitting at approximatly the same time.
