I'm quite sure holding a port and it's security officers hostage is against the law. Wonder what the pro-union Obama's take on this is.

Hrmmm.. what other group of America-loving patriots stormed a harbor and dumped cargo in protest?

Time for another Grain Party!

And a matter for local law enforcement so why are you babbling about Obama? Man, you have no respect for local and state authority at all, do you?

Also, you failed at leaving this board as hard as you failed out of teaching.

That was tea and boats. This is grain and trains. The two events are nothing alike.

You could come up with a lot of catchy slogans using "grain" and "train".

I'll organize a black flash mob to rescue it, of course.

Then, it's race war time.

What we need is a black labor union. Welfare Queens Local 270 or something.

This happened days after Obama stood side by side with Hoffa who screamed a call to arms for this exact sort of thing to happen. Why am I not surprised that liberals and the msm are doing their best to ignore and marginalize what's going down.

And yes there's another video on drudge of another black instigated race riot where the blacks are acting like animals.

The questions is: Is this terrorism and should these union thugs be incarcerated as terrorists? It's really a simple question.

They should be incarcerated. Just funny how similar behavior in the past is celebrated now.

It's a port, and thus falls to some degree under federal jurisdiction. Also this:

The article you didn't fully read wrote:

The blockade appeared to defy a federal restraining order issued last week against the union after it was accused of assaults and death threats.

According to Wiki, it's administered by the local government and a little more reading says security is by a private firm hired by said government. It's interesting though that you leap immediately to the federal layer of jurisdiction.

The article you didn't fully read wrote:

The article I didn't fully read was referring to a separate incident in which arrests were made.
Quote:
The train was the first grain shipment to arrive at Longview. It arrived Wednesday night after police arrested 19 demonstrators who tried to block the tracks. They were led by ILWU International President Robert McEllrath, who said they would return.

The blockade appeared to defy a federal restraining order issued last week against the union after it was accused of assaults and death threats.

Pretty good for an article I didn't fully read, huh? Presumably, they weren't arrested by federal marshals or the National Guard or the FBI. So, if the same order applies to this incident, I'm still not sure why we're jumping to a federal response.

Or is the statement here that Obama is supposed to get personally involved each time a federal court order is violated?

HA! You can't call me a liberal anymore. I hate unions in their current state. Holding people hostage, normally figuratively, is their only purpose. "Wah, I do desk work and only make $17/hour and get benefits, I should get more! Wah!".

The hell I've gone through trying to get my college stuff all set up is ridiculous. Support staff are on strike, I disagree with their claims about needing better wages. In the current job market, people should be thankful that they have decently paying jobs at all. If they don't want to work under sensible conditions, there are 10 people for each one of them who are qualified to do the job, looking for work.

I'm not saying that we should scrap labour unions completely, I'm just saying that the system is in dire need of an overhaul. For example, if your job is absolutely necessary(education, mail, health, etc.), then you should not be able to have a full strike, a partial, or rotating strike would be acceptable. Everyone else shouldn't have to suffer because some people are just ******* whiny.

Longshoremen, gotta love em. They had to have shipped them in from Seattle or Portland to make that large of a crowd.

Didn't you learn never **** off the dockworkers or railroad workers?

Naw we're much too passive-aggressive to hold people hostage; more likely we'd make you buy an extra windows upgrade or something.

Who administers it, or provides security isn't the issue. No one was calling for Obama to send in the National Guard or anything (at least I don't think so). As a port, it's connected to international trade. Thus, it falls "to some degree" under federal jurisdiction. Meaning that the federal government has an interest in what happens there. At no point does this mean that federal troops guard the port, or that federal employees manage it, and I'm not sure why you'd think that other than to try to spin this off onto a strawman sidetrack.

How does one have anything to do with the other? There are no federal employees working at a local bank, nor are there national guard troops guarding it, but if you rob one, it's still a federal crime, right?

Or is this too difficult a concept for you to grasp?

Quote:

Nope. But in the context of the very recent Hoffa incident, there is certainly a legitimate political aspect to this, which Obama might just want to deal with in some way. For a guy who has no problem making a political connection between pro-gun conservatives and a shooting event, I'd think that you'd also see the similar connection here.

I'd keep this going but, really, I was yanking Varus's chain and don't really care. Was funny that you jumped on the bait better than he did though.

I don't care if these guys are arrested or whatever. From what little I know of the story, they certainly should be.

Did you know the GOP just auctioned off a Glock in Giffords' district? Guess what kind of gun she was shot point-blank with?

Classy!
