Wow. I've been following their pretty amazing progress the last 7-10 buts didn't expect to see this so quickly. Here's hoping there isn't any significant push back or loss of territory.

Can only hope this is the last big push they need to secure a victory. It's a pretty amazing feat nonetheless.

Having his dissenting opinion is a good thing, in a way. It lets you know how far out a whacked out section of the populace views things.

That'd be true if it was a real opinion.

I was reading reports of counterattacks by tanks and artillery this morning along with pro-Gaddafi snipers throughout the city. So no magical turn-over but allowing the rebels to take much of the city was a hell of a blow.

Edit: On the "No Blood For Oil!" front...
Reuters wrote:
Gaddafi's fall will reopen the doors to the country with Africa's largest oil reserves. New players such as Qatar's national oil company and trading house Vitol are set to compete with established European and U.S. majors.

"We don't have a problem with western countries like Italians, French and UK companies. But we may have some political issues with Russia, China and Brazil," Abdeljalil Mayouf, information manager at Libyan rebel oil firm AGOCO, told Reuters.

The comment signals the potential for a major setback for Russia, China and Brazil, which opposed tough sanctions on Gaddafi or pressed for more talks, and could mean a loss of billions of dollars worth of oil exploration and construction contracts in the African nation.
[...]
About 75 Chinese companies operated in Libya before the war, involving about 36,000 staff and 50 projects, according to Chinese media.

Russian companies, including oil firms Gazprom Neft and Tatneft , also had projects worth billions of dollars in Libya. Brazilian firms such as Petrobras and construction giant Odebrecht were also in business there.

The birth and nurturing of this newly conceived Libyan government will be quite a challenge.

Oil prices are already dropping. Smiley: smile

So NATO overthrows a secular government to be replaced with extremists, kills thousands of civilians, =4 celebrates.

Everything went exactly as expected. Typical Jingoist behavior.

You can tell how boring someone is when they make a sock and you know it's a sock but couldn't begin to guess whose it is.

NATO killed thousands of civilians?

So there are rebels in the rebel army who are rebelling against the rebellion?

There's a pretty nifty story in the New York Times about how the attack on Tripoli was coordinated and planned. It was anything but spontaneous.

Not to be confused with that counterfeit history they stamp out in China for twelve cents an item.
#20REDACTED, Posted: Aug 23 2011 at 7:06 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What a surprise that none of you radical liberals are talking about the FACT that the US/Obama just installed another radical islamic state. Without the US airstrikes none of what the radical sharia rebels have accomplished would have been possible. 1 billion of US taxpayer money just went to overthrow an established govn and install another radical islamic state. Just like Egypt.

The Heritage Center posts crap, admit it's crap, yet knows full well that their small-minded audience will gobble it up as gospel.

You're such a tool Varus.

What a surprise that Varus wishes that a known and admitted terrorist like Gaddafi, who killed nearly 200 American citizens, was in power.

What a surprise that Varus is running away from the site though... guess I'll never get my fifty bucks Smiley: laugh

Did you even read it?

"So, we have this here and we don't know if it's real and we can't authenticate it and even if it is real, it's just an early draft copy but it has this one line that proves all of our fears and terrors have been realized!"
