Once I was looking at something or another which spurred me to say to Flea, "Hey, I didn't know Illinois still accepted common-law marriage."

She said "That was the worst proposal I've ever heard."

I always assumed that you had ordered her from a Peruvian mail-order catalog.

We were supposed to have a house-guest this weekend, but he was a no show. Consequently, my house was ****-and-span clean before the weekend started.

I really need to get some of my berries and veggies canned up. I've got cucumbers coming out my ears. It's really nice out though. Not sure I'll be able to sit in the kitchen all day. Instead I think I'm gonna continue trying to turn a corner of our wilds woods into a tranquil little meditation garden. Maybe it will be rainy tomorrow and I can can (har!).

Tonight we're taking my kid and his gf out for his birthday. We're going to a really yummy mexican place upstate a bit. Should be fun.

edit - gl on the proposal Eske!

Hell, I never even proposed. We were living together and she kept talking about it and talking about it and talking about it and talking about it and talking about it and talking about it and finally said "we should get married this summer".

Oh, and I just got back from moving my brother-in-law (further) upstate. Rather long day.

My husband and I were hiking Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga when he asked me. He got down on one knee and everything. It was very sweet. Smiley: inlove

I didn't know there was a dress code for a proposal, though. I'm pretty sure I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Maybe jeans since we were hiking.

Thanks for the stories guys Smiley: grin

I think I'll try again next weekend. We'll be in Margate, NJ, on the shore, so maybe I can take her for a walk on the beach and propose there.

My husband waited until I got to his house from work one night. We went next door to say hi to the neighbors and that's when he asked me to marry him. Meh.

Picked up one of the fire sale HP Touchpads from Best Buy this morning. I'd heard some of the misgivings but, for a hundred bucks, if all it does is browse the web, e-mail, Kindle app and tower defense games, I'd still consider it a bargain.

We were considering getting one of those, but it's probably too late by now.

Yeah, I'm hearing they're sold out of the stores. On the plus side, if you are interested, you can ask HP to notify you via their website. Retail stores who didn't participate in the fire sale are shipping their stock back to HP which is then selling it for the $99/$149 prices online.

Playing with it last night, I have no regrets. You can shut off most of the logging/monitoring features (which are on by default) for a good performance boost and I read you can overclock it from 1.3GHz to 1.7GHz pretty easily but I don't know that I'll bother. Folks are already working to port Android to it and I've heard people suggest that now the apps availability for it may ironically increase -- wasn't worth writing them for 40,000 sold units but would be worth it now that 500,000+ units are in people's hands.

Even if not, I found some apps I liked, loaded up music, a few movies and seasons of Archer to keep me amused on the road, it browses the web, e-mail and plays Angry Birds so... win! Smiley: laugh

The girlfriend and I were in a motorcycle safety class all weekend. The written test is tonight but it looks like a piece of cake. Once that's done we can get our class M licenses and get 3 years of lower insurance costs. Woot!

Do you happen to know what the battery life is/expected to be? I've paid almost zero attention to webOS devices thus far...

Yup. There's another day long "experienced rider" class that you can take after those 3 years to get another certification to continue the insurance discount for another 3 years, too.
