This is the correct answer.

The people supply the revenue, the government provides the services they demand. Works essentially like any other service you've ever paid for.

So if a politician or a Government either local, state or federal says they need to raise taxes what does that mean?

They might attempt to do so? You know you can never take a politician at their word!

Edited to make clear who I was responding to.

It means either:
A) They're going to expand services.
B) They haven't been given enough money to pay for the services they've delivered.
or C) The cost of providing the services has increased.

Can you abandon this retarded rhetoric now? Yes, taxes come from the people. SO DOES GOVERNMENT. The government is the people, and the taxes are paid by the people. Welcome to club America. If you don't want to pay your club dues, gtfo.

Who is paying the taxes.

I already said. My paycheck. Try and keep up.

See, I work a regular job, get paid and the total withheld on my W-2's > Amount I get back in refund (not even counting sales taxes, property taxes, vehicle taxes, etc etc). I pay taxes. So listening to idiots like you whine and cry about how liberals don't "get it" or whatever rolls right off of me except for the laughs I have at your expense.

You forgot D) The money collected for the service was not handled correctly.

Who's job is it to ensure that these things are done correctly? Public officials.

Who's Job is it to ensure that these folks are doing their job? The Public, via elections.

If you're arguing for a more streamlined system of government, where the public can more easily micromanage various aspects of our government, so that we can more easily control those performing those public functions, I could get behind some sort of cohesive plan for that.

If you're arguing that taxes are ruining the country, you'll be happy to know we have one of the lowest tax rates of the developed world, so low, in fact, that we don't really pay our bills, just shunt them down the road. Our tax rate is the second lowest among those countries, behind Sweden, and they have a functioning economy.

You don't seem to understand what a "circular argument" is either.

Are you blind? In the very sentence you quoted, he said he pays taxes.

This is about the only relative added point. Money moves all over government all the time, for everything it is how it works, and it doesn't matter who the govt is or what style of govt it is. Its services are it bills, and it pays those bills like 90% of people do, all at once or they pay half of two bills now and half later.

Back to the quoted point. This applies to everything. Prisons for example it costs nearly 70,000 a year to house a convict. Those people are cut from society yet society supports them. The majority of criminals are there drug related. How well it the War on drugs going? how much money has been dumped into something that has only gotten worse.

Its a free country people should be able to choose to do what they want. Begin legalizing drugs, starting with low class ones like Marijuana, Mushrooms etc

I know what you are trying to do, and that is single out things like medicare. Thats fine and all, but if they do get rid of that, I hope you break your body, so your insurance company dumps you, or charges you an outrageous amount after. So you know how tough some people have affording medical costs, a home, vehicles, etc.

Also look at Canada, tax paid ("free") Health Care, for every citizen in the country. Its economy is cruising along fine. (and the CDN govt spends less on health care per person/year then the US govt does as well due to hospitals being publicly controlled).

Once again, I realize you have multiple people to respond to, but I'd still like a response to "I'm curious what types of answers were expected and what acceptable (or correct) answers would have been to Thiefx."

Do you still require further responses from me before you answer my two questions?

Except it doesn't work exactly like other services.

Pizza Hut can't make me pay them for a pizza I never got. Macy's can't make me pay them for a shirt I don't want. Exxon doesn't make me pay them for gas that someone else uses.

The government can force you to pay for services you didn't want nor use.

Protip: If you make enough money that you pay any amount of taxes worth squawking about, you are benefiting more from those services than most people. Taxes are the cost of living in a developed nation. If you are thriving in a developed nation, you can thank the services that taxes provide for that. If you aren't thriving in that developed nation, you can thank the services that taxes provide for saving your ***.

People who think that taxes actually steal from the rich to give to the poor are the worst kind of idiots. Money is just a system. If someone takes your money and in doing so makes the money you're left with more valuable by putting what they took into collective investments, you have to be an idiot to complain about it.

And you're welcome to leave America if you don't like the club rules. Nobody is making you live here, work here, or shop here. In fact, I'd wager that if taxation made the U.S. such a sh*tty place, you'd have already done so, like the countless immigrants who leave their crummy country every year for the pleasure of our standard of living.

So right. It's a comfort to me to know that because I get taxed every time I want my sandwich toasted at subway (Yes CA has a tax for that)that's the reason we aren't all living in mud huts.

Mostly right! One of the things that's nice about having a portion of the fee you pay to get some-one else to toast your sandwiches for you is the safety you enjoy from your Chief or members of his war party coming along, pushing you in the dirt, and taking whatever thing of yours catches his fancy.

I find it funny that Thiefx thinks that I don't pay any taxes.

Sales tax and estate taxes, plus now I have to make sure I collect tax on any jewelry I sell and give it to the state.

Nothing under the table for me as I want to be able to sell my jewelry at fairs and conventions, were the Tax man will make sure I have a State Tax Id nicely framed for all to see.
