I have a question for you liberals in here. I have asked this question in the real world (you know that place that most of you libs in here avoid because you don't understand why your idiotic beliefs and ideas don't work there)more than once and I am always amused, fascinated and simply terrified by the the answers I get to this very basic question.

Where do taxes come from?

Hey ThiefX, I'd just like to mention that you're a moron and it would best for the rest of the world if you died, preferably soon. Also, if you can't manage to die in hasty fashion don't expect anyone to bother answering your dumbass question with any sort of serious answer.

Figures you filthy liberals can't answer a serious question about the economy seriously on a video game forum. Serious.

Joking aside, I'm curious what types of answers were expected and what acceptable (or correct) answers would have been to Thiefx.

To truthfully answer his question: anything, taxes can come from anything. You can tax income, assets, people, behaviors, imaginary concepts, and so on. It's a very open ended question.

Rather taxing to think of all the things that can be taxed so we can live as civilize human beings.

I wonder if Thiefx ever play a God Game where you had to balance tax rate with your city or country's growth, in order to win.

This is not a trick question, I am asking where do all of those taxes come from? Not who collects them or who thinks them up but where do they come from?

Then I believe I've answered your question with "anything, taxes can come from anything. You can tax income, assets, people, behaviors, imaginary concepts, and so on. It's a very open ended question."

Taxes come from numerous sources. If you narrow the bounds of your question then I can give you a narrower response.

Michigan has tax on all prepared food. Whether or not that sub at Subway is toasted, you still pay tax for purchasing it. It's not the food you are taxed for, but the "service" (but it's applied to the whole bill, not just a portion for service).

They come from an agreement made between the public and its government. We give the government money, and it does stuff for us.

It's a CA tax on hot prepared foods. Toasting the sandwich makes it a hot food. So it's not explicitly a tax on toasting subs, it's the same tax you pay for a burger or a plate of spaghetti or a steak dinner.

But it's more outrageous if he makes it sound like a crazy Cali-liberal "toasting tax". It's boring if it's just revealed to be a common application of a note in sales tax laws around the country to make food purchases tax free, yet foods purchased from restaurants taxable.

Would you prefer we didn't have health inspectors, sanitation codes and a court system that punished places for selling food that could cause sickness and associated personal injury?

#18ThiefX, Posted: Aug 07 2011 at 9:40 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You're right, pointing out the government taxing someone more money because their food is hot is only "outrageous" if I try to make it seem like a crazy CA liberal thing..........

Once again, I realize you have multiple people to respond to, but I'd still like a response to "I'm curious what types of answers were expected and what acceptable (or correct) answers would have been to Thiefx."

Do you still require further responses from me before you answer my two questions?

People. Various legal entities can also pay taxes, but ultimately they are formed by people.
