Nasa shoots down global warming alarmistsFollow

In addition to finding that far less heat is being trapped than alarmist computer models have predicted, the NASA satellite data show the atmosphere begins shedding heat into space long before United Nations computer models predicted.

The new findings are extremely important and should dramatically alter the global warming debate.

Scientists on all sides of the global warming debate are in general agreement about how much heat is being directly trapped by human emissions of carbon dioxide (the answer is "not much"). However, the single most important issue in the global warming debate is whether carbon dioxide emissions will indirectly trap far more heat by causing large increases in atmospheric humidity and cirrus clouds. Alarmist computer models assume human carbon dioxide emissions indirectly cause substantial increases in atmospheric humidity and cirrus clouds (each of which are very effective at trapping heat), but real-world data have long shown that carbon dioxide emissions are not causing as much atmospheric humidity and cirrus clouds as the alarmist computer models have predicted.

The new NASA Terra satellite data are consistent with long-term NOAA and NASA data indicating atmospheric humidity and cirrus clouds are not increasing in the manner predicted by alarmist computer models.

Yeah you global warming nut jobs can chew on this one for a while.

NASA didn't "shoot down" anything. A scientist used NASA data to write a paper in which he says these things are happening. The article itself is written by a guy from a conservative think tank; it's essentially a press release.

Roy Spencer's data has been wrong on multiple occasions so who knows here. If he's correct, then it's more data to add to the debate.

Learn from my mistake, yahoo news isn't 100% credible. It's nice because it covers a lot of different topics and it's "in your face", but many times, it's just a blogger writing an opinionated article based on legitimate information. It does, however, gives you something to think about.

I'd take his data over James Hansen's any day.

Yeah, the guy who wrote that article is involved with The Heartland Institute, a think tank that staunchly claims that global warming is actually not occurring, and would in fact be beneficial if it were. Which is, y'know, wrong.

What the original article, found here, actually says is this:

Quote:
Applied to long-term climate change, the research might indicate that the climate is less sensitive to warming due to increased carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere than climate modelers have theorized. A major underpinning of global warming theory is that the slight warming caused by enhanced greenhouse gases should change cloud cover in ways that cause additional warming, which would be a positive feedback cycle.

Instead, the natural ebb and flow of clouds, solar radiation, heat rising from the oceans and a myriad of other factors added to the different time lags in which they impact the atmosphere might make it impossible to isolate or accurately identify which piece of Earth’s changing climate is feedback from manmade greenhouse gases.

“There are simply too many variables to reliably gauge the right number for that,” Spencer said. “The main finding from this research is that there is no solution to the problem of measuring atmospheric feedback, due mostly to our inability to distinguish between radiative forcing and radiative feedback in our observations.”

Which basically means the current model is no good and we need to come up with an improved one which takes into account all of the factors. Which will be extremely difficult.

Not, as your guy on yahoo says "herpidy derp, global warming isn't teh happening".

Also, what's with the fixation on CO2, there are other greenhouse gasses. The worst of which is Methane, from intensive agriculture.

Here's the abstract to Spencer's recently published paper:

Spencer wrote:
Abstract: The sensitivity of the climate system to an imposed radiative imbalance remains the largest source of uncertainty in projections of future anthropogenic climate change. Here we present further evidence that this uncertainty from an observational perspective is largely due to the masking of the radiative feedback signal by internal radiative forcing, probably due to natural cloud variations. That these internal radiative forcings exist and likely corrupt feedback diagnosis is demonstrated with lag regression analysis of satellite and coupled climate model data, interpreted with a simple forcing-feedback model. While the satellite-based metrics for the period 2000–2010 depart substantially in the direction of lower climate sensitivity from those similarly computed from coupled climate models, we find that, with traditional methods, it is not possible to accurately quantify this discrepancy in terms of the feedbacks which determine climate sensitivity. It is concluded that atmospheric feedback diagnosis of the climate system remains an unsolved problem, due primarily to the inability to distinguish between radiative forcing and radiative feedback in satellite radiative budget observations.

My girlfriend's evangelical Southern Baptist father tried to explain to me once that because the Bible mentions that there were hundreds of witnesses to the resurrection, it must be true, because no one would consent to being put in a book unless they were certain, especially since by the time the gospels were written the original witnesses could still be found and questioned.

I wanted to point out that 95% of those "hundreds" are not named, the "book" wasn't written until at least 50-70 years after the resurrection (at which time almost everyone would have been dead, or a child at the time), and that eyewitness testimony is faulty at best and downright self-deceptive at worst. Oh, and that those who were named were almost all already believers and followers themselves.

But then I remembered that those convinced of their religion can't really be reasoned with, and it's probably better to nod and smile than irk the potential future in-laws.

So yeah top scientists have analyzed the NASA data and pretty much agree that human caused global warming activists are ignorant liberal whack jobs.

Have you considered this is why Obama has done everything he can to f*ck with NASA lately?

Wait, so Varus' grandfather was privvy to information that eludes historians to this day? Amazing!

He even used the "People wouldn't be willing to die for a lie" argument. I guess that means the Muslims are right, and Mohammed really did bring the perfect word. I mean, people wouldn't blow themselves up for a lie, now would they varus?
