I'm late to the game on this thread, but I honestly thought this was about those idiot Twilight books.

[Isa]Bella is the main character. Jacob is her friend the were-wolf.

Now you have to defend yourself for knowing that.

Thom's not old enough to watch those yet. That's an automatic forfeiture of the old man card.

My wife has the books and the movies; her sister is one of those Twilight Moms. One of those movies is always playing somewhere in the house. And I initially though that Jacob was the main vampire character, but I was told that is Edward.

Now, I'll play my movie geek card and point out that Edward is played by the guy who was Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter.

Whatever.

I'll also point out that when I saw the latest LotR animated .gif (Boromir's Catapault) I noticed that Denethor is played buy the guy who plays Joshua Jackson's father in Fringe.

They're saying that mermaids are the new vampire/werewolf. Read an article in USA Today a few days ago that interviewed some prominent teen book authors, and they were all switching to "high school mermaid romance" stories to catch the latest wave.

I mean, I knew that teen books weren't exactly serious literature, but I was struck by how openly sell-out the authors were about it all. They basically acknowledged that all they wanted to do was feast on the market trend.

Mermaids are in the new Pirates movie, aren't they? and they showed up once or twice in Harry Potter, too.

I was jerking off the other day and realized that the chick in the panties was the girl from Who's the Boss?

I actually went to middle school with this kid from that show. Kind of a druggie, and kind of a douche. He had his big toe on one of his feet severed 9/10 of the way off in an escalator when we were at Liberty Science Center for a field trip (turns out yeah, you really can get pulled into them by a loose shoelace).

Yes, I know I'm gonna get even more **** for this, but if you want more Alyssa Milano eye-candy, watch Charmed (preferably with the sound off). Or, as I called it, The Boobie Show.

I'm sure I've admitted this here before, but when I was out of work for a few weeks three years ago I got hooked on charmed re-runs. My wife bought me the first three seasons on DVD thus offering implicit approval of my habit.

I used to give plasma (for hours; apparently my body refuses to bleed) and they frequently had Charmed on. I read a book instead.

But I guess laying in front of a bunch of strangers while a mechanical vampire has its way with you isn't really conducive to bored horniness.

My first name is only in there in its most bastardised spelling. Two of my middle names aren't at all, and Elisabeth actually is, but the alternative spelling is a lot more popular.

I'm surprised that Kali is in there. And Rajesh isn't. Crazy hippies naming their daughters after the Indian goddess of destruction or black people using obscure Urdu slang? I actually know of only one person whose parents chose the name Kali, and she was named after the goddess Kali. Meh.

I actually have a friend who is the only person with a registered address in his country and his forename.

Paul has been less popular almost every year since my birth Smiley: grin Curses, Biblical names!

(Can't think of good "old man" names.)

Vernon, Terrance, Norman, Albert, Angus, Eugene... lots of names I'd think of as "older."

And is just me, or do 3/10 of the most popular girls name just scream " FUTURE PROSTITUTE!" (Madison, Chloe, Mia) and another 2 scream "High-quality prostitute" (Sophia, Ava)? Sorry in advance to any of you or your spawnlings who have those Smiley: lol

Eh, I have a friend named Terence. It's quite a popular name here.

The only time I've met anyone with my name under 35 was in the Netherlands - everyone who shared it with me in the UK and Germany is significantly older than me.
