Jesus also said (paraphrasing) don't throw out the old testament.

So you never eat shellfish or wear cotton polyester blend clothing? Because both of those things are banned in Leviticus too...

Leviticus 19:19 NIV wrote:

“‘Keep my decrees.

“‘Do not mate different kinds of animals.

“‘Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed.

“‘Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.

Leviticus 9-12 wrote:
“‘Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams you may eat any that have fins and scales. But all creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales—whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water—you are to regard as unclean. And since you are to regard them as unclean, you must not eat their meat; you must regard their carcasses as unclean. Anything living in the water that does not have fins and scales is to be regarded as unclean by you.

Also could I have the verse where Jesus says not to throw out the old testament, please?

I think he says just the opposite:

Hebrews 8:7 and Hebrews 8:18 wrote:
For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.

By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

Funny part about Sodom and Gomorrah was that one of their sins was that they'd engraved their names in gold ingots and gave them to beggers, and when those beggers tried to use the gold to buy food they'd refuse to sell.

Edit: It should also be pointed out that I've been talking about gambling, not investing, but I'm more entertained by the Religious Pick-Your-Sin Adventure Book we're witnessing.

and no I don't really eat shell fish. Just like it's words against homosexuality the old testament is a guide to clean living. Perhaps you should actually try and find the meaning of verses rather than spouting off the typical liberal ones that are most commonly misunderstood.

I've always found it sad that people will live their lives by a book that was written by some old guys, hundreds, even thousands of years ago. By all means, tell me what's dirty about shellfish, from what I've read, it seems that shellfish are quite good for you if you're not allergic.

Boy you liberals really don't like it when a conservative makes a profit do you? I mean lolgx, olo, guenny, and company are actually convinced it's unchristian to invest. Of course you're all used to that sort of behaviour, which is why you're so keen on taxing the h*ll out of those who actually pay federal income taxes. I can tell all you dead beats that it's a buyers market and now is a great time to buy a house but even with that knowledge you won't act on it. Just like you didn't when I said what I said about gold over 5yrs ago.

I don't even care whether or not it's Christian to invest. If you make a profit, good for you. If not, oh well, better luck next time. I just believe in tax rates that are different for people who make a lot than those who make next to nothing. If you're making a really good profit in the stock market, then you should be taxed more than the guy who works at a store for 8 bucks an hour to try and feed his family.

Sorry, you don't "really" eat shellfish? What does that mean? Have you ever eaten shellfish? Do you continue to eat them?

Also, you never answered my question about your clothes. Do you own any clothes that are made of more than one fabric? Say like cotton lycra blend socks? Or cotton polyester blend shirts? Those are against the rules too.

No where in the Old Testament does it say "these rules are negotiable, those ones aren't."

Just like Jesus doesn't anywhere make exceptions when he expresses his opinions about people who seek riches in this world instead of riches in heaven.

I have no problem with spiritual christians who treat the bible as a living text rather than as a literal one and try to live by the uplifting and positive spiritual messages within it.

But people like you, who use it literally, but only when it suits you - only as a reason to hate and discriminate against people - only as a tool to justify your bigotry - I have no respect for.

Unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

It was the Pharisees who turned Jesus over to the Romans, or do you not remember?

And the teachers of what law? The law of hatred? The law of strong vs weak? Don't tell me that you can honestly look the teachings of Jesus in the eye and see in him an exhortation to seek monetary profit. Don't tell me that Jesus hated the poor because it was only the poor who were willing to see and truly believe in Jesus. He rode in to Jerusalem on a donkey, not because donkeys were the cool ride back then, but because that is the best those who believed could provide. That and palm leaves.

Matthew:12:1-8 wrote:

At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were ahungered, and began to pluck the ears of corn to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.

But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was ahungered, and they that were with him;
how he entered into the house of God, and did eat the showbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless ?
But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

Mark 12:28-31 (New International Version wrote:

The Greatest Commandment
One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

So according to Jesus, wouldn't you agree- it is more important to love your gay neighbour or the guy at work that eats shellfish and wears cotton polyester shirts than to worry about some silly outdated law in Leviticus?

Isn't that what Jesus means when he talks about having righteousness greater than the Pharasees, who persecuted the disciples when they picked food because they were hungry on the sabbath?

Also regarding the law.

Mark:38-40 wrote:
Warning Against the Teachers of the Law
As he taught, Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will be punished most severely.”

Matthew 7:3-5 New International Version wrote:

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

their teachings are merely human rules.’

You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”

Why is that? Because I believe the bible when it tells me homosexuality is a sin?

I do despise liberalism and hold nothing but contempt for those who follow it's doctrine.

Wait, so you don't hate gays, but you do hate liberals? The point was that you hate in the first place, was it not?
