At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’ 25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.

This doesn't sound to me like the words of someone who encouraged playing the stock market

But the Bible is pretty explicit when it comes to things we should and shouldn't do wouldn't you say?
Like gambling and premarital sex?

And judgement. Lots and lots of judgement.

"Gambling is okay because I use a different word and it confuses Jesus."

Check.

Edit: Oh, and any good gambler takes as little risk as possible. That's why they're good.

I doubt you'd be saying this.
That gambling is a sin? No, I'd still be saying it.

olo,

First of all Jesus didn't write that. I know you're trying to use christianity, something you obviously know very little about, to prove a point but you're failing miserably.

We reap what we sow. That's all you need to know.

It is coming out of the mouth of Jesus in the story. I know the bible wasn't written by Jesus but I thought you christians believed god had a hand in the writing of it.

Myself, I think it is a bunch of fairy tales largely cobbled together by manipulative bigots.

But the Bible is pretty explicit when it comes to things we should and shouldn't do wouldn't you say? And if there's no mention about investments wouldn't it be safe to assume that it's ok as long as you're taking care of your other responsibilities?

The Bible constantly contradicts itself. And as mentioned in the previous quote in this thread, one thing the Bible is pretty explicit about is how it feels about money-grubbing.

Jesus didn't write anything in Leviticus either, but you certainly drag that out in every gay marriage thread.

Jesus also said "LOL BRB", but we don't apply that to our everyday lives, do we?

Varus,

It doesn't matter, nothing you can do will stop the anger that God feels for you.
