Omg I hate this--it makes me so uncomfortable.
I only take issue with it if I'm either stuck in a very long time (hour+) or its someone who knows that I don't like talking about it (like my brother, although he's finally stopped)

I think I've mentioned before that I'm currently working on my MBA. The only program that was close to home and had a schedule that worked was through Trevecca Nazarene College. I knew it was a Christian college and all, and I figured I'd have to sit through some god stuff, but that it would be worth it in the end.

But when your Econ teacher is trying to find a way to fit god into the lesson, it gets a little weird.
Yea, I probably should have added to the very long bit, repeated exposure from the same person.

I try not to ***** about it too much. I mean, I signed up for the program. But I honestly thought, "It's an accredited school, and surely there can't be too much preaching in a BUSINESS program..."

Yeah, I was wrong. Two years and two months of this. They start every class with a prayer while I finish my homework...

You should be grateful. Many schools don't allow for in class work time.

A moment of clarity. Hold on, it'll pass along soon enough and I'll be back to what you'd expect.

I would think being a human being is reason enough to treat the person with respect.

He did say it was someone who could be "Varus' grandfather," so it's possible that what the guy was saying was really, really offensive and not worthy of respect.

Sure, it the guy is insulting you or your mother, spitting, farting or waving around a loaded gun. I don't think that was the case.

Tolerance is supposed to be a strong point of liberals. Get some.

Because if you don't tolerate someone else's bigoted beliefs that makes you prejudiced towards them! You know like my intolerance of Christians' hatred of homosexuality!

People like me aught to be ashamed.

Tolerance of anything isn't really a virtue, imo. It's just less vicious than hate. So tolerating something as abhorrent as hate definitely isn't a virtue. And I'd argue that hate is intrinsically bad enough that acceptance of it still remains a vice.

The person yes, not necessarily their views. Of course "to be nice and agreeable" has nothing to with respect...

Why should respect be an automatic consequence of being human?

I think it should be a default position, but one that can be maintained or lost.
