In that she hates it? I still don't get why she'd care in this case. Unless she's the type that will blame the whole nation for the fact that a terrorist was hiding inside it.

Kali's mom isn't always rational, so I'm guessing, yes, she is one of those.

I actually felt it was a pretty good picture; a wide array of races present and accounted for, looks of joy and not anger, and no effigies or burning symbols in sight. Kudos on whoever snapped that shot!

The reactions from around the world seemed overwhelmingly positive. The only negative one on the AJE page was from Hamas, who said "Blah blah, infidels continue to kill holy warriors, blah blah, going to launch some homemade mortars at Israel, bbl, kthxbai."

Re: credit

I have no problem, what so ever, giving the President the due credit for this fine accomplishment, which it unquestionably is. He appears to have learned well from the mistakes he made in the pirate stand-off and acted decisively when presented with the opportunity to do so. Hearing that the teams had a kill on sight directive rather than any sort of capture order makes me perfectly happy.

Since it has been brought up here previously, let me touch on credit/blame to previous officials. If, after 7 years of operations and groundwork being laid to capture intelligence sources that provided the bread crumb trail to the mansion in Pakistan, the former President gets no credit for this victory that comes 15 1/2 months in to the current President's administration, how can he still be receiving blame for the economy that has been hamstrung at every opportunity by elected officials from the Democrat party for the last 8 years?

I've no problem giving Bush some credit.

The comparison to the economy is imbecilic and doesn't warrant being dignified with further remark.

Because(as was previously posted)he said...

So Bush gets all the credit he's due(for failing to capture Bin Laden). Also all the credit he's due for fUcking up the global economy.

Tonight, we give thanks to the countless intelligence and counterterrorism professionals who’ve worked tirelessly to achieve this outcome. The American people do not see their work, nor know their names. But tonight they feel the satisfaction of their work and the result of their pursuit of justice. - Obama tonight

The transcript is up on a hundred sites, there are about 4 more direct thanks and kudos to the work put in by intelligence and military servicemen/women and their amazing work that led to this conclusion. It is a shame that a complete disconnect with the reality of the situation and being so polarized politically caused you to be neglectful of the praise these people deserve.

So Bush gets all the credit he's due(for failing to capture Bin Laden).

It's a mis-quote, likely propagated by the same people who made up the documents Dan Rather used for his top-notch reporting on CBS. The actual transcript, with context:
Quote:
THE PRESIDENT: Deep in my heart I know the man is on the run, if he's alive at all. Who knows if he's hiding in some cave or not; we haven't heard from him in a long time. And the idea of focusing on one person is — really indicates to me people don't understand the scope of the mission. Terror is bigger than one person. And he's just — he's a person who's now been marginalized. His network, his host government has been destroyed. He's the ultimate parasite who found weakness, exploited it, and met his match. He is — as I mentioned in my speech, I do mention the fact that this is a fellow who is willing to commit youngsters to their death and he, himself, tries to hide — if, in fact, he's hiding at all. So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you. I'm more worried about making sure that our soldiers are well-supplied; that the strategy is clear; that the coalition is strong; that when we find enemy bunched up like we did in Shahikot Mountains, that the military has all the support it needs to go in and do the job, which they did.
Q: But don't you believe that the threat that bin Laden posed won't truly be eliminated until he is found either dead or alive?
THE PRESIDENT: Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I — I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run. I was concerned about him, when he had taken over a country. I was concerned about the fact that he was basically running Afghanistan and calling the shots for the Taliban.

Deathwysh wrote:

It's cute that you believe that. Seriously though, any grown ups?

EDIT: The transcript for the presser misquoted frequently in this thread.

To be a little fair, that came not long after the failed attack at Tora Bora (failed as in "bin Laden escaped"). In the face of that, I might be downplaying expectations as well.

Oh and after you're done with that if you or any of you want a real good laugh head on over to Michael Moore's web site. He is actually trying to claim some of the credit for Osama's death and blaming capiltalism at the same time. Now that is some truely amazing bat sh*t crazy there, I have a feeling you and a lot of others will fit right in.
