When you read a Bible-- any Bible --just how do you get around the explicit prohibition against homosexuality (assuming you give Scriptures moral authority)?

Because there isn't any prohibition against homosexuality in the New Testament (at least not that I know of), and the Old Testament doesn't even apply to Christians.

And as someone pointed out, there are plenty of ridiculous "sins" in the Old Testament. To add to some of those mentioned, here's a fun read: http://www.humanistsofutah.org/2002/WhyCantIOwnACanadian_10-02.html

I'm not even a Christian anymore, and I understood this much:

God makes covenants with man (he's made about 3, I think), and he makes them with blood. Those covenants are basically the "deal" he makes with humanity, and for every covenant there has been a sacrifice.

Quote:
5. Bible.
a. the conditional promises made to humanity by God, as revealed in Scripture.
b. the agreement between God and the ancient Israelites, in which God promised to protect them if they kept His law and were faithful to Him.

If you're a Christian, you believe BY DEFINITION OF CHRISTIANITY that the last covenant between God and man was made when Jesus was crucified, that God sent Jesus as a sacrifice to seal the ultimate deal, and that the deal that you enter into is to abide the words of Jesus Christ. The Old Testament is also the old covenant-- it does not apply to Christians. Why is it in the Bible? **** if I know... historical resource, inspiring tales... don't ask me, because I don't believe it anyway. Point being, homosexuality being forbidden is entirely a product of the old covenant, which is null and void.

But I think it's sad how many people claim to be Christians yet don't understand what they're supposed to believe under their own damn religion. Getting people to stop believing in a faith that brainwashes them into thinking that doubt is the devil's work is too daunting a challenge for most, but hopefully armed with the above information you can at least make them less ignorant within the context of their own religion.

I got ahold of Darq and she invited me a little while back, but then work went into turbo mode and I haven't had a chance to log in since. I'm around though, or I will be if I ever get time off from work.
