Cheers. One more question, for a new player what's a relatively easy race/class combo on Alliance-side? I've had to hear my friend R.J. ******** for a year about how gimp Paladins are so I already know to avoid them.

Edit: I should clarify, R.J. is a level 60 Paladin who's been ******** for a year about how gimp it is. So, I dunno if that's a sign that he's full of it or what, but I think it's safe to say regardless that I won't be a Paladin.

From what people have told me Paladins are not gimp. Play whatever you like. The learning curve is relatively simple across the board.

Iofiel will be back in game soon enough! I've just been busy is all...

I used to think WoW would look God awful judging from the screenshots. In game though, it actually works. It doesn't looks photo-realistic or anything, of course, but it doesn't look like the *** end of Hell either.

I'm actually leaning toward priest, but... do priests serve any purpose besides healing? I've had enough of being a heal-bot in FFXI and City of Heroes, I wouldn't mind healing again as long as that's not the only reason you people want me. =P

Priests group role is definately to heal. I've been able to solo well enough and enjoy the class, but no one says "Let's get a priest!" for any real reason other than healing.

Priests don't even get the same sorts of buff lines as in other MMORPGs. You get a couple buffs, heals and some various damage spells.

Well, I may as well start as a priest. I've started as a healer in every MMO I've ever played, no reason to break from tradition. If I hate it, I can always find something else. Now I'm just spinning my wheels and waiting for it to ask for disc 5. >_<

It'll be Saboruto, but I haven't settled on a race/class yet. I'm flirting with priest or rogue at this point. You'll see me, either way.

Rogue is fun too. Any class really Sabo, you can roll 5 alts and try each job.

Rogues are really, really fun - but also pretty thoroughly overrepresented. A rogue or hunter for soloing and a priest or druid for grouping might be the way to go.

Priests are not my cup of tea, but they're not the helpless heal bots they've been in other games. You can solo; you can rock pvp; you can do some damage and survive. And, of course, you'll never lack for group invites.

Analthief wants everyone to know that Whiske and Celcio are the greatest players he's ever grouped with. True story.

Well, I ended up going with a druid. So far, I'm having a blast with it. Still haven't seen any of the Lunatics running around yet, but maybe tonight. =)

WoW is a bit iffy to me. I was thinking about getting it because my girlfriend did ,was gonna play with her on it. But... She's telling me that the game is very one-sided. Basically that Horde OWNS Alliance in most-if-not-all ways. Like they get better skills and ****, I don't know. Sounds dumb to me. I don't want to be some Orc just so I can have cooler skills, thanks.

From the looks of it, WoW looked pretty grungy. I dunno, just didn't look too great. I like the clean look of FF11, but I hear it's going the tubes. Oh well, I'm slow. I'll still get FF11, by the time I quit playing it, there'll be other MMORPG's out there. Woooo~

P.S: Healing classes unite!

EDIT:

I notice how none of you mentioned EverQuest II. Does that game suck THAT bad?

Edit EDIT:

I looked into Vanguard and saw some screenshots of it. The scenery looks ******* awesome, but the characters seem a bit iffy. Hmm, interesting though.

Um, no.

Many people will say that Horde is better in PVP. They probably do get a few better skills, but really it's pretty balanced. Especially considering that Blizzard balances with PVE in mind first and foremost.

As for PVE raiding content, Alliance has a definite advantage in almost every encounter, due to Paladin vs. Shaman differences.

Whoever told you that paladins were gimp has probably never played one. If they have played one, and still tell you that pallies are gimp, they didn't play it well.

Basically, a paladin is a pretty useful tank with good spell combos for agro, and great combat healing (with the right talents). They won't put out as much DPS as a warrior, but the inclusion of auras and blessings (buffs), as well as a few other nifty spells (seals and judgement), makes them pretty well rounded characters, and moderately good soloers.
