"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

They're not exclusive. There's no reason to support the long term solution and forgo supporting a short term solution in the mean time.

I remember the last amnesty. That was going to be the very, very last one, we mean it this time - because the immigration process was going to be simplified and streamlined, and people who qualified wouldn't have to wait so long or jump through so many hoops or deal with so much truly pointless red tape.

We see how that worked out.

Extremely good point.

And FleaJo? The vast, vast majority of those stomping around and closing Taco Bell down were Messicans or of Messican descent. How does pointing out the obvious make us racist? I suppose if thousands of Nepalese had managed to make it over here yesterday we could add them to the mix, but since 999 out of 1,000 were our little southern brown friends, I think it's safe to say this was Please Give Mexicans American Citizenship Day.

I'd be agreeable to opening the border to Mexico if they would agree to let our oil companies free rein in there, along with every other industry. They could become our 52nd state.

This brilliant gem is a pretty good example of why we haven't elected a lot of darkies to high office.

Lol, Osama Obama is just the first, Mr. White Bread. Soon our Congress' hallowed halls will be filled with dusky hued Gomezes and Sanchezes. We're about to become The Man.

Yeah, but you'll notice there aren't a lot of Washingtons or Jeffersons or Shakwandas in the hallowed halls.

Besides, until one of you lazy ***-ed welfare recipients creates a multi-billion dollar international conglomerate, there's no chance of you getting more than a token seat in the room where real decisions are made: The Boardroom.

So are you saying that there should be no legal recourse for people who dont trust the governtment because they came here illegally from a country where the government was untrustworthy? That this behaviour should be excused because they didnt know any better?

Unless they did it out of ill will, yes. On humanitarian reasons alone, I would oppose deporting a vast number of people to El Salvador, where guerrillas steal the men-children and force them to join, and where most people aren't educated past grade school. If you're going to become a law-abiding taxpayer, then stay. If you're going to join MS-13, get the hell out. As a matter of fact I'll go one step further and say that for first-generation immigrants, citizenship should be probationary for the first five years, and if you get convicted of so much as a misdeameanor, you go back.

It doesn't. If it did, I would be racist because I'm about to point out how true it is that blacks can't read so good.
I'll spell it phonetically for you: WOOsh.

How is that even remotely our problem? It sounds like an internal issue to me. We raised our own standard of living. Let the hut dwellers do it too.

I definately agree with this. But I think the illegal immigrants that are currently here that have stolen SSN's and not paid taxes in a number of years should face some sort of legal recourse. If not being deported they need to be fined/jailed for a period of time.

A fine was part of the Kennedy-McCain bill, I believe, along with the requirement that they learn English. I don't oppose either.

FleaJo, in my language that'd be "WOOshizzle." Everybody knows that Snooplish is now the officially recognised language of the inner city blacks and disaffected white suburbanite youth everywhere.

Do try to keep up with current popular culture, dear.

The recent popularization of reggeton and the prime-time transmission of the Latin Grammys tell a different story, dawg.

I'm asuming that was a stereotypical racial slur against we translucent-skinned, chinless brits.

Don't make me try ebonics in a poncy nasal English accent, Home-Boy!

Since when did your ebony-hued status give you the right to "Diss" we "Thin-Lips"?

You know, when it comes to work, they're lazy as hell. But tell them they can protest across the country and they're totally up for it.
