I figure someone will just shiv me.

I do not own any firearms but have played around with a couple bolt-action rifles and a shotgun before. I also am a spectacularly poor shot. As it's been explained to me, I am right handed but "left eyed" meaning that my left eye sees straight ahead but the vision from my right eye is slightly off-set (one of your eyes is the same way - it allows for binocular vision). So, to sight down the rifle, I have to either hold it awkwardly in my left hand or else try to accommodate for my right eye.

I'm sure that training and experience could make up for my biological defects but, for now, I had to shelve my dreams of becoming a Mossad sniper.

I learned a few things about guns during my time in college in Arizona:
1. Never, ever, ever **** off a conveniance store worker in phoenix. They carry more hardware thasn your local gun convention.
2. Turkish made mauser WWII rifles and 1,000 rounds of ammo can be purchased for under $20.
3. 1,000 rounds of ammo fired from 7 Turkish made mauser WWII rifles into a single computer chassis will make it implode.
4. There are a ******** of people in Arizona with fully automatic assault weaponry.
5. Fireing two colt 45's at a target at the same time is easier than fireing 2 Glock 9 mil handguns, though the latter looks cooler.
6. I am an excellent shot with any weapon not equiped with a scope. Especially if it has a peep sight
7. I suck at adjusting scopes correctly
8. Shooting a can of paint balls wiht a sabot shell from a shotgun > shooting the paint balls themselves.
9. The people you think are armed in arizona usually are. So are the ones you don't think are armed
10. it's ok to bring a bow to a gunfight if you are a better shot than everyone else there!

I have never owned or even fired a gun, unless you count BB guns.

I think that means I'm unamerican.. Smiley: frown

Growing up my house had multiple firearms contained therein; a pair of .22 rifles, a 10-gauge shotgun with a shot compressor on it, a .22 magnum revolver (it's so cute), and at least one 9mm pistol. Nothing too serious, though that 10-gauge kicked solidly.

I've fired all of the above, plus a .45 police auto (cousin's a sherrif's officer). Thanks to a co-worker, I've been able to handle an M16 (with 4x scope) and a pair of Uzis (both silenced - I am sure this is highly illegal) - never had a chance to fire them, though. An Uzi in each hand looks very cool and feels wildly impractical; I don't know if I can really get used to sub-machineguns. They just feel weird.

Despite growing up around them, I own no firearms at home. I used to be a blade guy, swords and knives and similar, but most of the associated hardware has failed at one point or another. Posing with swords is fun but hitting things is better - I have snapped an unfortunate number of badly made weapons.

I still have a few knives but they're mainly decorative; one's a very nice throwing blade (forged in Toledo) that my brother picked up while visiting Spain. They lay around my apartment and wind up doing duty as letter-openers.

I have couple of 9mm handguns, a .22 target pistol, and a.22 rifle, and a 12 gauge Pump-action shotgun. I love to go to the range when I have time. The 9mm handguns were for work (Armed Security). I also have a 30# pull recurve bow I used to shoot in competions when I was young.

I don't take issue with anyone wanting to own a handgun, but I always call "bullsh;t" on the handgun for home defense arguement. Unless you plan on wearing it holstered around the house, you aren't likely to get to it in time to protect yourself. Also you are more likely to shoot someone (including yourself) that you didn't intend to shoot, than to successfully defend your home with a handgun. Its a lot harder to hit your intended target when your life is being threatened.

Pump action shotgun is what you need for home defense. Just racking it is usually enough clear an unwanted person from your home.

I got a switchblade I carry with me in Juarez and I carry a a decent sized club in my truck under my seat for personal protection.

Here in California, each of those is a felony. What you have to do is carry a bat, ball and glove (sports equipment) in your car vs. just a bat (weapon). No switchblades, butterfly knifes, angel blades, etc. in California. Felonies one and all.

I don't own any guns or sidearms. If I did, someone would surely die. I consider it safer for everyone that I don't purchase one.

The proper method is to keep BOTH eyes open silly!

Experience? I've shot every calibre hand gun from .22 to .50, even a pretty cool (extremely well balanced) Dirty-Harry sytle magnum .45. I've also shot a bunch of long guns ranging from as small as a 10-Guage shot gun to a 30/6 rifle. I am reluctant to mention what I own exactly, since Canada is funny about those things. However I will say in addition to real firearms, I also have an extensive collection of BB guns (hand and long), a paint "marker" and a custom built 'tater canon that would impress the **** out of any redneck in terms of power, projectile diversity and engineering.

Shootin' is fun.

Take it up with my friend's ex-girlfriend. She "taught" me how to shoot.

My uncle got busted here in the Land of Lincoln for carrying a resin billy-club type thing in his car. I'm not sure what the fine was but it was taken away from him during a traffic stop when the cop spotted it. I guess you could always just go with a good ole fashioned tire iron.

100% agree. NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use a hand gun for home defense. That’s why I bought the combat shotgun. There is no restrictor in the barrel, it's a "sawed-off" barrel to boot, and holds 8 shells (one in chamber, 7 in the shell holder).

Just cocking that SOB will scare any poor ******* that my be nearby. The lack of restrictor and short barrel give a very wide dispersal and giant loss of power at any kind of range. Target load won't penetrate a flimsy wall at more then 15ft. Safe to fire with close neighbors. And you don't have to be dead-eye **** at 3:30am when someone is B\E your home. Target load will hurt like hell and do some decent damage, but the chance of dieing from it if you’re smart and shoot low is moderate to low.

I've only got 2 rifles, a 22 and a Shotgun. Most of my pistols are pretty old, and more of collector's items than for functionality. I've got about 4 32 calibers from the late 1800's. I also have a small derringer that shoots .410 shotgun shells. And a .357 six shooter. There's also a .44 but it went through a fire, so it's pretty much toast.

I do not own any guns, other than the wooden shell of a WW2 Russian Mosin-Nagant which I think was straight out of the factory. Would be good for bashing people...

i will say this.. wehnever I hold a gun in my hands... I start to drool.. Wehn I eventually get the money to burn I will definatly be getting some guns... It's a nice little obsession that I keep at bay.. for now. I would only have them I think for nostalgic purposes, as I definatly would not carry it around with me.. because I feel that I WOULD use it. However I can totally see myself just carrying one around my house.. or sitting watching TV with a nice 12 gauge on my lap like a true redneck. Just thinking of it gives me butterflies.

I wholly think that my obsessiom with guns comes from watching movies.
