...the slimfast wagon that is. I'm trying the new "Optima" line. Yes, I could try dieting by eating well rounded and more interesting low-fat meals, but that would require more time and effort than I have in me, at least during the week. I figure that slimfast is better than the can o' soup I've been having for lunches at work lately, and at like $1.25 a can, it's pretty economical.

Anyone else actively dieting at the moment in preparation for the much hated swim-suit season? I want to lose 10 pounds before Boston so I'm not accused of false advertising. It would help if I hadn't eaten about 10 pounds of easter candy in the past week (oh reeses peanut butter eggs...how do I love thee?).

I'm right there with you. A shake for breakfast and lunch and then a sensible dinner and I'm all good.

I'm trying to look svelte for the much-hated Boston season. So far, it's consisted of me saying "I should exercise or something before Boston."

I'm an avid comsumer of Slim-fast.

not out of dieting purposes, but pure laziness. It's much easier and faster to drink your meal in 2 minutes on the way to your car.

***** it, I say. I'm going to have another baby in the next year anyway. I'll wait until that one is here, then worry about swimsuit season.

Nexa, did you breastfeed? I lost all the weight I had put on in pregnancy by breastfeeding Mia.

I actually don't do the shake for breakfast, because nothing I ever have for breakfast has as many calories as a shake. The shakes are 190 calories and my breakfast cereal with milk is only like 140ish.

I occasionally have them for dinner though, depending on my schedule. Like tonight I'll have one for dinner since I'm going straight to my karate class from work and won't get home until about 8:30.

Anytime I try to diet or do a routine of excersise I never lose weight. It's only when I don't dwell on it and eat and live normally that I see positive results. I'd love to lose a few pounds for the Boston trip, but I'm not going to worry over it. As for your slim fast, I hope it works!

Yes I did, and yes I lost all the weight I put on. Unfortunately, I was about 15 pounds overweight when I got pregnant, and still have about 10 pounds left to lose to get to my "comfortable" weight. That is not my ************************** weight, since I would have to be anorexic for that, but it's the weight were I think I look my best and feel pretty darn good about it.

Right now I'm unhappy with the post-pregnancy belly flab, the extra padding on my *** that does at least serve the purpose of making floor sitting more comfortable, and the arms that keep on waving after I stop.

I also consider losing weight to be an excellent reason to buy a new outfit for the trip.

"But honey, I can't go like this...nothing fits!"

I'm overweight. Have been for years. If I lose it, I gain it right back. I suppose I'm just destined to be fuller-figured. I'm trying to exercise and eat better, but it's only because my father (whose side of the family I take after) has diabetes, and boy do I hate needles.

My main complaint with those weight charts is to actually weigh the amount they think you should, you'd break in to. I'm a fan of not being able to see every bone in a person's body. The only time I ever matched those charts is when I was in my full throw of Anorexia. I like to hike, canoe and (dont tell anyone but I still twirl, I'd actually like to take up teaching twirling as a side job) other things. I like my version of fit, where I'm not some weakling female. I can carry my own back pack full of camping gear several miles up hills, threw rivers and such.

I just think its horse **** now days. Its "sexy" to look like a reed that might break in a strong wind. You can see every bone in your body. It's fashionable to look like a skeleton wrapped in a two sizes too small skin covering. What happened to Marilyn Monroe type sexiness? Were you were healthy.

I hear ya there sister! The only time I was ever "chart weight", my hair was falling out and I was even whiter than I am now. It's absurd. I just want to get back to being comfortable, because I'm not at the moment. I'm in my "winter weight" which is fine for winter...but it's spring! In the winter, you like to wear the heavy sweaters and whatnot, and in the summer, you want to be lighter...I feel the same way with my weight, haha.

Another thing those charts don't account for: boobies. I'd like to keep mine.

I've been working on it, down 20 pounds for the year so far. I tried one of those slim fast shakes once. That had to have been one of the most vile concoctions I have ever tasted. No thanks.

I make my own breakfast shake.
1 cup skim milk
1 bannana
2 pear halves (peel the skin off if fresh, I use canned cause I'm lazy)
couple table spoons of crushed pinapple (also canned cause I'm lazy)
4 fresh strawberries
Blend for about 30 seconds till smooth and enjoy.

Pretty filling really, and tastes damn good.

I only like the Creamy Milk Chocolate flavor. What you make sounds lovely, but like I said, I do this for convenience because I don't have the time to make a healthy lunch, hehe.

In Boston, all bets are off and I'm eating whatever the hell I want to, washing it down with booze and then chain smoking until a lung collapses. Then I'll come home stinking of alcohol and cigarettes and weighing 5 pounds more than when I left. It'll be fun Smiley: grin

I'm leaving for Hawaii at the end of June. I'm at about the same place you are as far as progress is concerned. I will work out and ride the bike Friday though. It's gettin' down to crunch time.
