I understand this is the assylum, but could we either clarify the restrictions on NWS avatars, or get a filter setting to turn off .gifs in the avatar fields?
I like seeing most people's avatars, and use them to quickly visually identify posters, which I would assume is their intention. But a few of the animated .gifs have become more and more sexually explicit to the point to where they are not only NWS, but actually might attract the unwanted attention of passerbys. WarMav I'm looking at you, but not just you.
Yes I'm being a whiney conservative cnut that should go drink some butt flavored bleach and die, and then GFMyself, just to get that out of the way right now.

I know there's the "No Images" check but I shouldn't have to shut out the 95% benign avatars for the sake of the 5% knucklefu[Cyan][/Cyan]cks who think rubbing boobs and naked women make for appropriate avatars. Likewise, Firefox with its AdBlock features isn't always available as a download in the workplace.

Not that I like to censor people, but I have to agree that for some of us that don't have the usual options available at work, it would be common courtesy to keep the **** avs to your private viewing stash. So you like boobies. Sheesh. I get it.

Reminds me of the time someone reported my EQ guild's web site as a **** site because someone had a boob-rubbing avatar in the public forum. It was a minor inconvenience to us to have the web site down for a couple of days while it was "investigated", but I imagine it would be a much bigger hit to Alla.

I know I can just hide images, but like joph said 95% of the avatars are fine, and they are really helpfull when crusing through threads looking for specific posts. I like them so much I pay premium so that I can have my own, but ever since animated .gifs have become all of the rage this place has started to look like a crappy **** free preview site.

Not a threat. I'd never do that to Alla, and I was annoyed when it was done to us (apparently by a member of a rival guild).

The point I was trying to make is not that I do not like boobs, certainly, that is not the case. The issue is with animated .gifs that draw unwanted attention to the screen, so as to look like I'm browsing crappy **** sites.
That and they take an eon to load over dial-up but that's a whole different gripe, and certainly not an admin problem. Really if we could get a .gif filter next to the block all avatars filter it would go a long way towards alleviating the issue. It's already been said that just blocking users would put too much stress on the servers.
