My HD died. I am slowly replacing my music collection. Perfect opportunity to add new stuff.

The Challenge

1 CD

If you were stuck with 1 cd on a deserted island or perhaps on a long trip across the country which would you take.

Disclaimer: I don't need long *** playlists or multiple cd's. Just the one cd, if you want to explain why go ahead.

Tom Petty: Anthology.

Which is actually a two-CD set but your rules can blow me.

No rule against two discs, I'd just rather see a CD set like "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - Smashing Pumpkins" than an anthology or greatest hits double cd.

Well there's an obvious reason to pick a greatest hits album but, if you're disqualifying compilations of past work, I'm going to need to think about it.

I realised over my lunch drive today that, after 10+ years, I still haven't gotten sick of hearing Cracker's Teen Angst (What the world needs now). But I don't think I'd pick an entire Cracker album as my one choice.

Shi[black][black]tty Country music is major cause of obesity and type-2 diabetes, throw it in the trash and go get yourself some music from a real woman Susan Tedeschi.

Or be prepared to die a horrible death as a quadruple-amputee in a "Faith Hill" t-shirt.

Type O Negative - The Least Worst of

Because if I'm going to be stuck on a deserted island with 1 CD, I want something depressing enough to make me want to kill myself.

If that's your objective then just go with Coddy's suggestion...

Country has always been a mixed bag.

A lot of pure ***** however its spawned icons like Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline etc. I think its safe to say though somewhere in the mid 90's it became pop-country (something its suffered from in the past). Seems to be nothing more than pop stars trying to be cowboys.

It doesn't have to be cruel and unusual punishment.
