Charges dropped in teacher sex scandal
Quote:
ORLANDO, Fla. - State prosecutors decided Tuesday to drop charges against a former Tampa teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old middle school student.
Ok, so has anyone seen what this chick looks like? She's freakin' hot. This really kinda cracked me up:

I'm sorry, but this teenage guy banged a 25 year old blond hottie, and he's having anxiety? About what??? I'd be up in that stand smoking a cigarette and recalling the finer details if I were him. Then I'd don my pimp hat while up there and ask her if she needed a "ride home." I really have a hard time feeling sorry for the guy, if in fact he's wanting sympathy. It would be different if she was some ugly beast, then hell ya he *should* be feeling some anxiety, but 'cmon... seriously. C'mon!

Yes, she is smoking hot. In Canada that would have been all legal. Too bad she wasn't my teacher. Smiley: glare

I'm confused. The prosecution offered a deal, the defense accepted it, the judge threw it out for not being harsh enough, so now she's getting off scott free?

Shazam!

What happened is she was prosecuted in two different counties. She plea bargained in the first county (they had sex at the school and at her house in this county) and got the ridiculous sentence of probation and no jail time. The charges got dropped in the second county (they had sex in a moving SUV).

On a side note, I think that this teacher also dated some boybander from N'Sync or Backstreet Boys when she was in high school. Something along lines of they were madly Smiley: inlove and the guy crushed her heart and she has been Smiley: cry since.

I feel bad for the ex-husband of this teacher. It's one thing for your wife to cheat on you, but she cheated on him with a kid.

What I find sad is that she got off, #1 she is a beautiful woman, #2 She had sex with a boy who was 14 yrs old. I know that is prolly every young guys dream. I think she got off because of how she looks. But, what the hell is wrong with adults wanting to have sex with a child? That is nasty as hell. If it had been a 25 yr old male having sex with a 14 yr old girl, he would be in jail no questions asked.

Here in Ga this 30 something teacher had started having sex with her son's friend when he was 15 yrs. old, when he turned 16 they got married, now she is pregnant and is facing jail time. The woman to me is no that pretty. I know that no Dad wants to hear about their little girl banging a 25 yr old. But, it is a double standard. Which shouldn't matter because grown people should not be having sex with children.

That woman is fine enough to get someone her own age to bang her, why she chose a 14 yr old, just means she as f'cking problems. (Unless she didnt know he was 14, and he didnt look 14, Im not sure if she knew, but if she did know shame on her.)

Heard on the news this AM that she's also exploring a career change to journalism and that she would like to write a book, but that the terms of her legal agreement specify that she can't profit from her crime. It'll be interesting to see what the hell else, if anything, she has to say.

She's 25; her life is hardly over. Maybe she'll make something useful of herself as a journalist.

She's got a long time to get over being "that hot teacher that banged that kid". Eichmann was doing fine in Argentina and a hell of a lot more people were upset with him.

If so, then the book she writes at 50 may be a page-turner, but I doubt there's anything to compare right now to the interest generated by her crime.

Were I the kid, I'd have faked anxiety to have the charges dropped too.

Jail = Inaccessible

3yrs House arrest = 24-7 available booty call

i think the 14 year old kid was someone in her class or at least the school she taught in. so it wasn't like she met him at the mall and he pretended to be 21 and he looked like it, so they did the deed and found out later he was only 14.

i agree with OP though, regardless of how the teacher looks, any 14-16 year old guy who gets to bang his 25-year old teacher normally would have happy emotions. heck, i daresay, even boys in elementary school fantasize about their teachers already.

perhaps there was something wrong with the boy too then, that he feels "traumatized".

as for why she might be attracted to him at that age? i've often asked this question also about Queen Amidala and Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars I movie. some SW fans I know said, they totally could see her falling for him already. I'm just thinking, wth would a 14-year old queen see in a 10-year old boy? (or however old they were supposed to be in that movie).

so same thing here. i see cute teenage girls..i just dont see the same from boys though. boys tend to be more immature at 14 to make me think, dang he's still just a kid.

I think the kid just had a date with his Biology teacher later and wanted to run home and wash the sheets.

After a student's parents, his instructors are typically the primary authority figure in a student's life with a superior-subordinate hierarchy established from kindergarten onward. The concept of loco parentis comes from the idea that, for around 6-8 hours of the day, a student's instructors are acting in the role of guardian to the child. For a teacher to abuse that power and relationship for sexual contact with a student is somewhat akin to incest. Idle daydreams and normal pubescent fantasies aside, I can see where the reality of such a relationship would leave a student, who is normally at the age where one is testing the waters of emotional/physical relationships with his female peers, feeling a bit disturbed inside and with a feeling that it was, at a gut level, "wrong".

Yes, yes... tee-hee! He had sex with a hot teacher! Giggle! And I'm not saying every student would feel anxiety or trauma over the relationship. But it's perfectly understandable in my mind that this particular student claims to have felt those thing.

This is foo...if it had been a male teacher and a female student, many people would be squawking a different tune. This woman is mentally bent...period. The mother of this boy is making a mistake imho. Debra LaFave needs to do jail time same as any other sexual predator. Hot? Absolutely smokin hot woman, but by her actions, she has shown what is in her heart and for me, that makes her uglier than a mud fence. Would I do her? In a New York second and make sure to give her a fake name beforehand. The fact that the minor involved is a male should make no difference. She abused her position in the lives of these kids in her classes and for that, should be punished to the limit of the applicable laws.

eh? At the end of the day, we're still talking about statutory rape though. They call it "statutory" for a reason. It's because we've decided (somewhat arbitrarily) on a legal "age of consent", below which the teen is not legally able to give consent to sex. In most states it's an elective charge. The parents get to decide whether to charge someone with the crime (because legally, they hold the consent just as parents hold many of a minor's rights until they reach an age sufficient to hold them themselves).

In this case, the harm is the emotional effect that having sex with an adult (especially one in a position of authority) might have on a 14 year old. The whole point of prosecuting the crime for the parents is to protect their son from this harm. If the parent(s) decide that the emotional harm of going through a trial is greater then the harm done by the adult in this case, then it's certainly their right to choose to drop the charges.

A parent has many rights with regard to raising their children. This choice is one of them. Given the specifics of this case, I really can't blame them. Ultimately, it's going to come down to exactly how harmed they feel their son is as a result of all of this. So yeah. Justice in cases like this may not be equal and it may not seem fair. But the specifics are not always the same either. Whether we like it or not, in our society, we tend to view a female teen as more of a sexual victim then a male teen. That's just a fact. And because we do, we often make it so. I don't find it wrong for parents in cases like this to react based on those social rules we all put in place.

I'd love to live in a world where we don't assume that women are always sexual victims. But we don't. Not yet anyway...
