It'll come up again, and eventually 'under God' will be removed. As it should be.

Actually, Atheism got the legal runaround. It's like Atheism slept with Justice and Justice is a playa, and now is refusing to take Atheism's calls and making its secretary tell Atheism it's in a business meeting every time.

Flea, have you been posting on Skeet's account? Because there is no way he miraculously said something funny after a year.

Skeet is actually very funny. He's kind of paintball humour type-guy. He just sprays funny everywhere and hopes it sticks.

It was a procedural point. Someone will bring it again, likely some eighteen year old high school student who doesn't require a guradian. It'll have to be in the same circut to have a shot in all likelyhood, but it'll probably get there.

Well he needs to change from water soluable paint balls and go with an oil base paint, he'd have a lot better chance on getting something to stick.

The ruling overturned a lower court decision that the religious reference made the pledge unconstitutional in public schools. But the decision did so on technical grounds, ruling the man who brought the case on behalf of his 10-year-old daughter could not legally represent her.

Congratulations on your empty victory.

If they're really atheists, why should they care anyway? why would be offended.. just say the ****.. It's the ******* pledge, it's tradition. Should they remove all holiday ornamentation from schools too?? Too much free ******* time... or serious "God" issues.. wahtever. Get a life and get over yourself.

The "under God" part was added in 1954, during the whole red-scare McCarthy era. So if you really want to stick to tradition, then lose the "under God."

They want to raise their children to be Atheists and take offense to the school incorperating God into a daily practice. If it read "One nation under Allah" would that be allright?

yes, but it's not like they're praying to God. If anything they're praying to Uncle Sam. Should we take it off our money too?
and Allah/God, it's relative.

It comes down to the right people have to remove offensive things from their life. It's it's saying "under God" in the PoA, then so be it. Granted, it would seem like it would be a lot more common sense to just NOT SAY the goddamned part, but hey...free will is a *****.

Should we sweep the Christian God and the church under the rug of antiquity?

Only in True Utopia.

Its been there the whole time I have been alive and I am for it staying, it means something to me it being there. But, it will probably get removed in the future.

WARNING!!! The following post, might - just might - contain a piece (or two, or three, or four, or .....) of sarcasm.

Atheism is a religion. See, I'll even prove it to you.

Quote:
religion

Agnostic. Atheist. Non-observant Jewish. Neo-pagan.

This is straight from www.dictionary.com. Since it's on the internet - IT MUST BE TRUE!!!

So based on this NEW information, these atheists are trying to push their anti "under god" beliefs on us. OH THE HORROR AND INHUMANITY!!!

No wonder public schools are in the *******, a lot of their money is tied up dealing with dumbass yahoo's that want to have 15 minutes of fame.

Quote:
"Look at me. Look at me! I saved all these poor innocent children from the horrors of having to say 'Under God' once a day."

Of course, after little Tommy graduates from high school he'll think Pi can only refer to apple, pumpkin or strawberry. Then we'll all be happy that the school district he graduated from was finally brought up to speed about the atrocities of "under god" by your tax dollars.

I never understood the problem. I never bothered to say "Under god" in school. I never made a point of it and the teacher never gave me more than a look for it.

If this guy, or any parent, really wants their child to grow up free from the "brain washing" religion causes then they should explain their reasoning to the ****** kid and let them decide. That is the point after all isn't, to let the child grow up making their own decisions or was it to force their own ***** up anti-religious world view on them?

No, the point is that there shouldn't be any mention of God in pulbic schools unless it's a class about religion or philosophy.

Having the default be to mention god is wrong, unconstitutional, and dangerous.

I realize that in Bogata, they used to sing "Dios amore la pequano Gitsalerito" but in the US it shouldn't enter into the equation.

If you want your kid to hear about god sen him to a religous school like the Saudi's do.

If the Public wants it changed FINE. I really don't care. But the court system is not the place to do it. There's nothing unconstitutional about GOD being in the PoA. Blah blah, call your senator.
