Other than one last cry for attention, what the fuck is the point? I'm pretty sure no one here is hurting for an email address, so it's not like you're never going to talk again to the people you like here.

So why not just shut the fu
ck up, slip out the back door, and leave things like they are?

Then again, that's just my Smiley: twocents

I have to agree with this. If there's really nothing left to say, then don't say...anything. You know you'll lurk for awhile and notice when someone else notices you haven't chimed in for a few weeks. Then be noncommittal and disappear except for a yearly check-in to see if the real old-timers are still hanging on.

That's what I'd think, at least. Except no one would notice I was gone. Because I don't have anything to say. Even when it looks like I'm not saying anything, I have nothing to say.

Well, once the day finally comes for me to retire from the boards, I'll probably just slip out the back door when nobody is looking.

Either that, or throw a firecracker towards the bar and run. Figuratively speaking, of course.

The best way to go is to leave two plates of "Special" brownies in the Teacher's Lounge. I'll leave it up to yall to figure how one plate is different from the other. Smiley: wink2

To be honest, if a long-time poster really is leaving the board, I like to have a thread saying that. Otherwise, I wonder if they died in a horrible accident or something. I'm over-reactive though, and tend to think that if my husband is 5 minutes late getting home from work and didn't call, he's clearly been murdered. Of course, for those hoping that someone will notice they haven't posted for a while and write a thread with their name on it, just leaving is a good way to go.

It all depends on the poster though really. If someone who has been around for three months and hasn't really contributed much but crap posts says they're leaving, I couldn't care less. When someone who has been around longer than me leaves, and has been a great contributer on a variety of topics, it's nice to see the announcement of their graduation rather than have them just disappear.

We should start a list of people that have never made posts with this exact same subject. Why ya care?

Truly, I don't. My feelings about the posters on this board are best stated in a reply I made on another thread:

I wrote:
...I really don't care. Everyone here is simply nothing more than a board personality. I like some of yall, I don't like others. But in the end, none of it fucking matters.

What I originally wrote was nothing more than something I was thinking. Hence "just my Smiley: twocents"

I've never understood why people feel the need to post a goodbye post. It's stupid to me. Waste of time for them and space on someone's server.

If you really care about people you know wanting to know you are leaving, send them a farkin' email. If you care about them so much, you should have that at least, right?

Other than that, it's nothing more than one last cry for attention.
