WTF kind of name is "Crips"? Cripples?*

The article reminds me of the opening scenes of Warriors. I think street gangs need to revert to wearing clown make-up, Yankees uniforms and 1970's style roller skates.

Insert Mren joke here. I'm too lazy

No, it's always been "crips".

One does wonder if they actually meant crypts.

It would certainly make life easier for their drug customers, the police and rival gang members to identify them.

The Bloods could be the happy clowns and the Crips the sad clowns?

I made up a gang in highschool, we were called "Los Swankos".

We wore a yellow bandana with a big black "S" on it around our right calves.

Our gang sign was both of our hands cupped in a "C" positioned one on top of the other to make an "S".

Oh yeah, we were bad.

Los Swankos!

"Cryps" actually does refer to cripples in the same way that "Cryp walking" is actually walking like a cripple.

I was raised on the streets, biotch.

Huh. I grew up on the mean streets of Woodridge, IL. But I'm still Jophiel from the Block.

The Crips might as well have named themselves the Congentially Deaf or the Clinically Retarded. "Crips"... sheesh Smiley: rolleyes

I remember the public outcry about that movie because of some minor altercations a few theaters had between various wannabes. There were people doing their level best to have the movie banned in their home town for fear of local violent youth marauding through city streets causing mayhem and chaos.

Of course, like every other movie, by the second weekend nobody was going to see it anymore.

Hilarious.
