slipknot fans. suffer!Follow

ok my bother just got me this new slipknot album for my birth day, and as a heavy metal fan i must say this flat out blows. with the exeption of the song duality this whole album including the plastic its printed on is pure garbage. If i wanted to hear cheesy puesdo rock ballads i would relive the days of Ratt and Posion. Anyway i just wanted to know if any fans of the metal genre felt the same way, or if maybe im just to old and kids these days like soft new age metal to ease there teenage anxist. anyway this brings me to my next point witch is this: How does the music industry expect to sell records to recoupe losses against pirated music if the product witch the companies distribute is utter crap to the point of "Hey this guy has a banjo and can sing 19th century come around tunes, lets make an album and charge unsepecting children 30 dollars for it". I'm sorry but i can see why myself and others refuse to pay money for garbage. "just because you put dog **** in a box and pretend its "cheerios" doesn't make it any less ****. Thanks for listening.^^

Saw them play a club back before first album was about to come out they put on an intense show. The music is definitely not for everyone. Havent picked up their new CD yet but meh if it rocks it rocks, if it doesnt meh.

My experience with the metal genre is that it goes through periodical ups and downs and every now and then reinvents itself. Right now i think its on a down. Move on you bought a ****** CD we all have dont moan like 13 yr old girl just move on. It takes more than a bad CD to rock my faith in the record industry (i sold my soul to RIAA if i didnt mention:P)

An to anyone claiming sell out status or **** like that i would direct you to lyrics from Tool's Hooker With a ***** song.

I agree, their first CD was great from start to finish, but thier next two suck balls.

Anyone who enjoys metal and has not seen Slipknot in concert needs to. They put on the best concert I have ever seen.

Bah.

I thought this was gonna be a thread about how Angry Hippo tried to off himself by using a noose, but screwed it up and just choked himself for a couple of hours before his parents found him, cut him down, and doubled the dosages on his meds...

That is possibly the best idea for post ever thought of. Unfortunately we are left with this steaming pile.

Slipknot is pretty good, I haven't heard the new CD but ever since they got Korey they seem to be going a bit downhill.

My favorite CD is the very first... \

Which "new" cd is this? Last one I heard about was Iowa. I don't mind Slipknot and would probably give a new album a listen to.

Slightly off topic, can anyone recommend a specific NIN album? I've been meaning to give them a listen, but haven't really heard them before, so I'm not too sure which to start with.

/agree

I used to be a little metal-head too when I was a lad, but since college, my tastes in music have mellowed out a lot. I went from Slipknot, Static-x, Fear Factory and Dry Kill Logic to the Eagles, STP, Audioslave and Dave.

By the way, for all you metal heads out there, look up Dry Kill Logic if you haven't heard of them yet. Their CD "The Darker Side of Nonsense" is absolutely awesome.

Let's talk about Angry Hippo killing himself instead. That's much more interesting.

How do you think he'd do it? Would he make a granny knot and tie it off in the shower or would he make a bowline and hang himself in the garage so his stepdad would be the first to find him when he came home from work? Slipknots would come loose too easy, so he couldn't use one of those. It'd have to be more better.

Try this place. You can download music from here.

I prefer their first album over the rest :)

F'ucking Totem. I go through more monitor wipes than anyone at the god damn company. It's been a while since you did that to me, and now I have to deal with a dirty screen until more wipes get ordered.

I have all their discs, the DVD, seen them live 4 times (once per tour). I DID like IOWA quite a bit, and i think that is what seems to separate me from the haters in this case. Most people on here don't seem to like IOWA, and in some case the self titled "Slipknot" disc.
Not too sure why Slipknot doesn't come accross as metal enough for some so called metalheads. I can understand some people taking a love it or hate it stand on the masks. It's all opinion though.
Musically, I don't see anything disappointing about any of their material thus far (although I have yet to pick up the new album). Can those of you tell me what you find so repulsive about IOWA? Maybe the same things that you don't like about it are the things that I like about it.
Undoubtedly, I'll go and pay money for the new disc tonight. I hope that it is worth something to me, because these reviews have certainly shot it to hell. As a music "connoisseur", do some of you feel you're being a bit finicky, or do you really think that in the few hours you've had to give this album an openminded listen it is just that horrible?

Not looking to flame or be flamed. Just looking for more detailed responses. "I hate it. It sucked." Not really telling me much. Thanks for some input.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, but what's your take on Angry hanging himself? That's what we're talking about here. We couldn't be less interested in some Fred Durst wannabes.

Angry Hippo? Right right.
Anyway, as you don't care about Fred Durst wannabe types (nor do I), I could also care less about Angry Hippo, especially when it strays from the topic.

So what is Angry Hippo? And why did Angry Hippo hang himself?

Intelligent Slipknot responses would be good though. Seriously.

Sooooo, what about it, Sneakypants? How do you think Angry would hang himself? He lives out in Escondido, so they prolly don't have large trees for to hang himself there, but shower rods are always readily available.
