Well for one thing I've been having really strong contractions all day. Over 40 since I got up. Plus these are different than the ones I've been having since Wednesday, which was basically just balling the top of my belly up rock hard. Now it hurts near my tailbone and is enough where I have to stop what I'm doing on the comp.

Darned things are jumping all over the place time wise though. I was at a good 10 minute pace and now I'm at like 9, 8, 7, 9, 6. Boo!

I have a doctor's appointment in about half an hour so I'll see what she says. I hope she sends me over to the birthing center instead of home!

The remedy for labor pains as according to my mother-in-law is to drink a couple tablespoons of codliver oil. But only if you want to induce labor. It must work-- my wife tried it and went into labor an hour later.

The cod liver oil trick is actually pretty well known. I don't know if it works, but I sure hear a lot of women mention it.

Well, I am back at home to labor. I suspect they sent me home for a combo reason of making room and saving me money. I went to the doc's and was 3 cm with 7 minute contractions and so she sent me over to maternity. After 4 hours there was no change though so she gave me the option of inducing or going home. We decided to come home because I didn't like the idea of a harder labor and increased C chances. So now I'm getting them about 4 minutes apart and they told me to come in when they're 2 apart! Crazies. Anyway, these friggin hurt so I'm all terrified at what's to come. Thanks for the luck! Gonna go take a 100 or so 3 minute naps now. ^_^

Poor pikko... Hats off to all the women having babies. I'm still not convinced babymaking is where it's at for me.

Yeah, you don't want to induce if you can avoid it. My GYN had that done and told me she'd never do it to another woman if she could avoid it.

Both of my deliveries were induced ... my first because my water broke a month early and my second because my son was more than 30 days overdue.

Petocin(sp?) is some powerful stuff, but at least my labor was short and sweet. 8 hours on #1 and 4 hours on #2 ... and according to the doc the first one only took 8 hours because of the epidural. Second one was completely natural, no epidural or painkillers, and yeah it hurt like heck but it was over quickly.

Best of luck to you! Your life is about to change for the better ...

30 days overdue!?!

What, did he come out with a driving permit in hand and a full set of wisdom teeth???

They either had to have miscalculated the due date or he'd have weighed 40 pounds and ripped you asunder upon departure from the womb!

My first was near 30 days over due. Thus my now bad blood pressure, I blame the doctors.

We still haven't heard from Pikko yet, but as soon as we do I will be here to post! This is exciting the first Allakhazam baby birth. (not to forget Marie, that was just as exciting, but Alla and I didn't talk labor pains /wink)

LOL Totem.

Nah, my son only weighed 8-6, but he had a full head of hair and was "the densest newborn the doc had ever seen." The nurses nicknamed him "linebacker."

*good vibes to Pikko*

First labour is generally 12-20 hours average, but if your being induced it can take 3-4 days if your body is not co-operating.

don't worry Flea no matter how much pain you think it will be, it will be worse than that.

On the plus side 2 seconds after little baby Flea appears you will be more than willing to do it again.

My wife amazed me when my son was born, i was a total wreck after watching her in agony for 8 hours <first 5 hours where ok> and she was ready to get up out of the bed and walk over to him pain forgotten.

She want another so it can't have been all that bad right?

/em walks away shaking his head in amazement at females in general, masocists the lot of them.

a) there's a good reason they call it labor...its hard ****** work.

b)you arent alone...lots have done it before you and suffer with you as you work...witness this thread :D

c)thank all the little gods and goddesses, natural childbirth is no longer the height of labor fashion, and one can have "a little something" for the pain without feeling like a cheat.

d)labor is nothing compared to the work of the actual child now in your house for the next oh lets see...23 or so years, give or take...heeeheeee.

For Skeeter, Flea? Ooooooh, about 8 secs and two pelvic thrusts. But you'd more qualified to say if I was being rather generous on the time...
