Doctors vs. GunsFollow

A. The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000
B. Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000
C. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171 per year

Now consider this:
A. The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000
B. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is 1,500
C. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188 per year

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do!"

FACT: Not everyone has a gun, but almost everyone has at least one doctor.
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before
this gets completely out of hand.
NOTE: Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers
for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.

The key word in there is "accidental". Post the numbers of purposeful gun-related deaths and we'll start talking.

Only if you include both males and females in the count, and assume that there is an equal population of both sexes in the world.

By the way, wouldn't hermaphradites and kleinfelters throw off the numbers just a smidge?

I suppose this is some attempt at equating doctors to weapons?

Let's see if I can follow you.

You have brain cancer - you see a doctor who will do whatever in his/her power to attempt to rid you of your disease.

You have a ******* neighbour - you get a gun so that next time the neighbour insults you.. you can shoot him?

You seem to be missing the point, son. Yeah gun accidents suck. Yeah doctors making mistakes suck. But guns are for killing things. Oh wait though, I'm sure you'll tell me they're for something else completely.

Seriously, Thundra, what's the deal? Ever since you came back from strike, you've been a sad shell of your former self. Is this just another cleverly disguised cry for attention? Do you need a cookie?

Smiley: cookie

Isn't there somewhere around 12,000 gun deaths per year in the US? Well... yeah...

(Yes I got that number from Bowling for Columbine, but still)

I can't post with ALL of my nicks at the same time and have them all entertaining.

Cut me some slack, sheesh.

It's part of the Thundra cycle of violencetm. Play weak, shy, friendly, post some stories, argue with Smash, then call you all c'unts and then disappear by being banned, going on a trip or on strike. Repeat.

I think it may be a weeee bit premature to come to the conclusion I'm in need of a cookie (though I appreciate the offer). I mean, I've only posted like 6 times since my embargo came to an abrupt end.

They say that with distance comes perspective. I say, "Fuck that!" It's much more fun keeping my head up my ***.

I will say this much though. I'm disappointed with the way Spidermilk met his untimely demise. Illia's interference prevented his metamorphosis into the beautiful butterfly he was otherwise destined to become. Instead, his death will be passed off as 'just another uninspired sockpuppet'.

But maybe finding my father's corpse shortly after he choked to death on my daughter's still-born fetus has affected my mood, I really can't be sure (better?).

fine, replace the % of Dr to deaths with all deaths caused by guns in the USA vs all deaths caused via automobiles. then we can really talk about what the bigger threat is to human life in the US.

#1 cause of death in the USA = car/automobiles

look here for statistics

an other great set for you

enjoy. heart attacks, and car crashes = way more deaths then guns do every year. now that the census is blaming all kinds of lung cancers on cigarets that has become the #1 killer, but cancer is that killed them or that heart attack. that cigarette may of given it to them, but again they made the choice. anyone 50yrs or younger has known better. those 50+, well that was a different time and things should be held to the standard of the day 50+ years ago for that.

double jeapordy is still illegal in the US last i read.

rough #s for you for the year 2001:

Unintentional Injuries = roughly 200,000
Homicide = roughly 18,000

mind you unintentional includes falls, MV (motor vehical) and a small handful of other factors, but homicide = all kinds of murder, not just those by gun.

yes the gun is the #1 cause of death in Homicide, but is a far cry from the HUGE big no no ppl try to make guns out to be.

if the originals posters stats are accurate, there are roughly 800k guns in the US, and only 18,000 ppl in the year 2001 died from Homicide (roughly 93-96%) of them killed by the gun.

that is a HUGE differance, then 200,000 accidents killing ppl. so lets ban cars, lets ban unsafe foods, lets ban smoking, drinking, or anything that can hurt us. that includes electricity as EM radiation has been proven to cause cancer. that means no more fossil fule power in any fassion as all of the by products are unhealthy to humans.

by removing everything that is bad for the human race you condem it to a prehistoric exsistance without hunting tools other then our hands, but that has to be banned too as a hand to hand combat situation with a wild animal is extreemly dangerous and can get humans killed.

this means we can only eat what we can pick. but we can not go out in the fields because there are bugs, snakes, and other animals that might make us ill, or kill us, so we are condemed to die.

get off it. guns do not kill ppl, the person holding the gun is the one who pulled that trigger. that is the killer.

machines have no brains, and thus can not think, oh ill fire now and kill that human over there just because it would be interesting to see what would happen. that just *********

Did you know that Dihydrogen oxide is also a very dangerous substance?

We need to eliminate doctors and this dihydrogen oxide stuff.

Guns = good
People = bad

Actually, I need to be more specific than that. Lemme try that again.

Guns = good
Mren = bad
Mren with large caliber wound in the temple = great

Does that make it any clearer?
