Why do I keep letting the Philadelphia sports teams get my hopes up? I know damn well we will never win a championship here in my lifetime. I think I actually preferred the 90's and 90's when all our teams sucked so bad you knew we had no shot of winning anything. Now they're just good enough to get your hopes up before they turn and kick you in the balls.

/me goes and gets drunk.

Aren't they still up 3-2 and at home on Sunday?

2-2 and home Sunday. But they got completely outplayed by Toronto the last two games. The first two games were fairly even, but Esche pulled their chestnuts from the fire in game 2 or they would probably have lost that one. I seriously doube they can win two of the next three, even with home ice.

It could worse. You could be a Red Sox fan.

Picture this being Game Seven of the Stanley Cup and being ahead by 5 goals with thirty seconds left.

And then loosing.

Three or four times.

Oh wait, you have the Eagles, so you understand allready.

Come to Edmonton, we suck! Could be worse, you could be a Colorado fan. Oh wait, they won it all in the last decade, never mind.

I think his point is that NO Philly team has won anyhting in like two decades. The Avalanche won a few years ago. With Ray Bourque, those slimy fuckers stealing the second best Bruin ever.

Need I go back over the stats.

Phillies indeed won a single world series in their 100 plus year history. But otherwise, they are the losingest team in major sports history. Yep. No team in any of the 4 major sports has lost more games than the Fightins.

Eagles never won a Super Bowl. And have lost 3 Championship games in a row now -- two at home. It's so sad that we still revere the only coach to even get us to the big game - back in 1981.

Flyers had a nice run in the 70's with 2 cups. Nothing before and nothing since.

Sixers actually were a power team in the 70's and much of the 80's. Except for a few years with AI, they have sucked ever since.

Last Championship here: 1983. No city with 4 major sports teams has come anywhere close to that.

So we have people here who are married with kids who still have never seen a championship for any of our teams.

Now back to some serious drinking

My Grandfather, with tears in his eyes, woke my younger brother (who was six) up in '86 when the Red Sox played the Mets and told him that he'd been waiting his whole life to see them win it all and wanted the family to be together.

He's dead now.

What has Atlanta won?

Did the Braves sneak a World Series in while I wasn't looking?

I remember clearly the last conversation I had with my grandfather. I was visiting him at his nursing home and the Phillies were on. We watched the game together. This was in 1987, I believe (I may be off by a year). It was still early in the season and they were actually doing OK at the time. I remember saying something about they might have a chance this year and enthusing about some of the players they had. He just snorted and said they were still the Phillies. They hadn't won his whole life and they weren't going to win this year either. He died the next week, but I still remember that conversation. He was right by the way.

They won the World Series in 1980, no?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that would qualify in the lifetime catagory. My grandfather was born in 1919, no joke. A year after the Red Sox last won the series.

As for Atlanta having the major sports teams, the Thrashers can't really count cause they've only been around for 4 or 5 seasons.

The Braves won a WS back in the mid 90's (i think 95 was already mentioned, i can't remember).

The Hawks I could care less about. I'm from Memphis, TN originally, so if i'm going to root for any NBA team it's going to be the Grizzlies.

The Falcons.. are the Falcons. Once again, originally from TN, I root for the Titans. (i'm still bitter over the loss in the Super Bowl a few years ago.)

Well, as a Chicago native, all I can cling to is the Three-peat Repeat. 6 NBA Championships with MJ.

Nuts to Washington, MJ will always be a Bull.

St. Louis is my home, but I am a Kansas City Chiefs fan. Have been since 1984. You can imagine my heartbreak when the ^*&%^% Ram's came to St. Louis and 4 years later they win it all. As far as Philly not having any championships since 1983, that sucks. I had no idea it was getting that bad, but I can relate to your pain. The Cards haven't won since 82, the Chiefs have never won in my lifetime, we have no NBA team to even root for and the worst of all......The Blues have made the playoffs 25 straight years and like 30 out of 32 years, but have no stanley cup to show for it!

Man, I hope they didn't use up all of their offensive fire power today. It'd be a shame to see them loose the series but have way more total goals..

/ducks.

Yea, the Blues suck, but no one normal likes St. Louis anyway. Well maybe Nelly, but he sort of proves my point anyway.

It's been an odd series. I don't remember ever seeing a series where the home team has dominated like this in every game. I fully expect Toronto to win Tuesday and force game 7. Problem is, whoever wins this will probably be too beat up to have a chance against Tamps Bay.
