What happens if the dig that thing up and it is Noah's Arc???

About the same thing that would happen if they discover a big gingerbread house in the Black Forest of Bavaria that has the remains of a witch in the oven.

The thing I think you might be missing here is THERE IS NO ******* NOAH'S ARK. It's a fairy tale. Let's go look for Harry Potter's train station, shall we?

Quote:

Im a Christian

You don't say. Here I thought you were a rational, impartial observer who thought it likely that someone sailed around with two of every animal ten thousand years ago untill he crashed into a mountain.

Quote:

but I dont have an opinion nor do I really care whether or not it is the arc.

It cannot be the arc, because the arc is a fairy tale. Just like we can't excavate an archeological site and find the lost city of OZ.

Quote:

Seems to me the people who are "anti christian" have a bigger stake in this than us Christians do. I dont need for it to be the arc to believe what I know is true.

A bigger stake in what? Someone wasting time and money to take pictures of a rock formation? Doesn't effect me in the slightest. Of course you don't need it to be "the arc" to believe what you kow is true.

You believe that men are eaten by whales and then escape, that people live to be thousands of years old and that someoe can get nailed to a tree, die, and then come back to life.

I wasn't under the impression that proof was a real high priority for you.

Oh, well then allow me.

It is.

The story of Noah may sound far-fetched as well as some of the other stories in the bible but remember... any thing is possible with God. /nod

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking me what will happen if an imaginary boat from a fairy tale is found? Golly, I don't know. I guess I'd have to plant my magic beans and escape up the beanstalk to the Giant's castle.

No, you're confused. I'm pro reality. That doesn't make me anti-christian. It makes you a brainwashed cult member. Like Koresh without the charisma.

Weather it’s real or not doesn’t matter to Christians.

Some maybe, but most don’t need tangible proof.

yeah we dont care if they find it or not we believe it happened so its good enough for me, and anyone else who is a christain

maybe, if they said it was the ark, some would believe it and go to visit and so on, but if they said it wasnt the ark, they would care

Apologetics has always bothered me in a lot of Christians. The thing is, justifying your beliefs is a ludicrous proposition. One of the base tenets of Christianity is a faith in that which can not be factually verified, that Christ was resurrected and ascended to heaven. That being the case, what does it matter to Christians whether or not this happens to be the arc? Would it give you cause to jump up on your chain and shout "I told you so!!!!" at the top of your lungs? That would be sad.

though it would pretty interesting if they did find it and if they proved it was noah's ark then it would boost my faith

Im sorry who brought this up?????? Oh it's the person who said they dont care. If you dont care then why are you argueing about it. If we are all just mush brained cultists why are you wasting your time argueing with us? ( not that we are argueing with you) All I said was what happens if it is the Arc. What will your response be then? I know you wont admit your wrong that would be asking too much. I just want to know up front what your excuse for a boat being stranded 6000 ft above sea lvl will be.
#69 Apr 27 2004 at 10:39 AM Rating: Decent
no i meant i pity you because all you can is try and make fun of someones religion, i sure as hell would never do that to someone else

The problem there is, it wouldn't. It would boost your belief, possibly, but consider this:

The most appropriate definition of faith pertaining to religion is belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. Adding in logical proof or material evidence diminishes the need for faith.

Can you understand why empirical evidence would devalue a "faith" you hold so dear? As I understand it, and I understand it pretty well, trust me, the reward for faith in Christ is a heavenly one, not an earthly one. Looking to factual material to "prove" you correct would imply receiving that reward here on earth, thus voiding scriptural promises, or at least devalueing them.
