I went to the library with Flea today.
I browsed around the five jillion books, tried to remember names of authors recommended here(to no avail) then browsed the fiction area.
Here is what I walked away with, these are books I picked first by what ever title sounded interesting, then I weeded them more thoroughly by reading about the author, then even more thoroughly by reading the introductions and/or prefaces.
First one I decided I'd take home was "The Master and Margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov. I was a little apprehensive about this book because I'm partly a believer of the "to translate is treason" kind of thought. I know some of the meaning will be lost, but that is just something I'll have to put with, seeing as how I don't speak or read Russian.
Next was "The Catsitters" by James Wolcott. I don't know, looks interesting.
Then while waiting for Fleas glasses to be done at the lens crafters or what ever store it was in the mall, I browsed around the book store and spent a whopping 5 dollars on (blow out all of your air, trust me) "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles ********
Done gasping? Good. Shock you as it may, I've never read this book, looks interesting.
Anyhow, mock and scorn and suggest and praise as you see fit, these are the books I'll be reading for awhile.
It being quite awhile since I finished Eragon, I picked up a "Hearthbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" today and got my read on. I've been carrying it around with me for awhile now, knowing that I want to read it, but obligated to save Ivalice from Mewt.
