I have a nasty sore throat and cough. I've been home since Tuesday. Wah. And our car was broken into last night. Double wah.

Thanks guys - I'll be back in fighting form before long.

Tare, did you get the flu shot? (I know it is not perfect, but it is supposed to have some benefits).

I've actually only had the shot once, and that year I got the sickest I have ever been. High feaver, vomiting, whole 9 yards. Never had it again.

I did find my health correlates to exercise. All I had to do is exercise hard about once per week and no problems. Been doing that ever since. Actually it may correlate to stress since the only reason I wouldn't exercise was some pretty severe external pressure - most of these I have been able to avoid recently.

Well, hope you feel better. Smiley: flowers

Funny you should mention you're sick. I am too! GO US!

I just came back from my ENT. I get to have my tonsils removed at the end of April.

While I was at the doctor's, I asked about a couple possible urban myths I'd heard concerning tonsils.

1. I've heard of people having their tonsils removed, only to have them grow back a few months later- sometimes multiple times after multiple tonsilectomies. He told me that he hasn't heard of that happening in the States in a couple decades. Apparently, they once used a device similar to a 'Cigar Cutter' to remove your tonsils. Obviously, this left a large portion of the base of your tonsils intact- which allowed them to grow back.

2. My father once told me a story about how my grandmother (his mother) had her tonsils removed. Allegedly, they placed a spoonful of white-hot liquid metal onto a spoon, stuck it down your throat, and burned the tonsils out. I was skeptical of the story, even as a child- mainly because my father was an asshole. That reminds me, I need to go **** on his grave.

Anyway, as I was saying... I wasn't sure if there was any truth to the story. Apparently, there was only a sliver. The ENT told me that they'd never used 'liquid metal' to remove the tonsils. They did at one time, however, cauterize the wounds (with a half-walnut shaped tool) after the tonsils were removed, and that was probably where the 'hot spoon' malarkey originated.

The ENT was actually very cute. Every time he smiled I sensed a little deviousness lurking under the surface of his otherwise professional exterior. I'm thinking when I awake from the surgery I may not be a virgin anymore. I'm also thinking I won't mind.

OMG, I have to get mine out too! Only my doctor called it "eradication therapy". Catchy, huh?

Then again, what he could have meant was that when I woke up my virginity might be gone...I wasn't paying attention.

Just sayin'.

I was gonna change it anyway. I'm not a fan of appropriety (assume that that was actually a word- the sentence makes more sense that way).

I think the new one is even more "Thundra" - in an ambiguous, fuzzy, entrancing kind of way.

I just got over a horrible cold in the last week.
Started not this past saturday, but the one before, when I woke up that morning I had a sore throat. By that night I had chills, a fever, trouble swallowing (not even going there), stuffy nose, headache... that Sunday morning was the first time I had to call in sick for work in years.
After the first couple days the fever, chills and worst parts were gone. But I still couldn't sleep without taking a couple extra strength tylenols before bed. And even than I woke up when they wore off. This last Tuesday morning the cold was finally gone.
It was a ***** of a week. /sigh

I hope you get well soon though.

I am feeling better today! I had a wonderful, cleansing fever last night. Ugh. Happily, my throat is less swollen, voice is coming back and now all I need to do is cough up a bucket of phlegm and I'll be back in the game.

Ohhh, yeeeeahh.

That's pretty sad when even operations get bit by the PC bug.

GL on the operation, though. You too, Thundra

I'm deathly afraid of doctors, so if mine had to come out, I would just have to die.
