I’m just curious, and would like to see where people stand on the following issues. To get the largest sample, this will be posted on several of the forums here. Please only answer this once.

1. As a premium member, one of the services you pay for is the ability to display an Avatar icon with each of your posts. While this is nice, it does tend to be a problem when at work. Would you be bothered if there was a specific “work friendly” forum layout that would allow people to disable avatar viewing? They would show up in the other views, just not that one work friendly forum. Please explain your position either way.

2. If such an avatar toggle feature were a premium only feature, would that increase the likelihood of you purchasing a premium membership?

3. Please rank the following in terms of importance to you: A work friendly stylesheet, Private messaging, Increased game coverage, new non-forum site features.

4. Keeping in mind that the search feature is on hold until the new servers arrive, is there anything else you would like to see that would increase your likeliness to purchase a premium membership? (premium memberships pay for new servers, which = faster forum…)

5. Please add any comments here.

1. Yes a choice of style sheets would be nice, im easy either way with the ability to view or not view avatars - I guess being able to switch them off could help on the work friendly front. Would it make a difference to loading speeds ?

2. No

3. A work friendly stylesheet, Private messaging, Increased game coverage, new non-forum site features. Yes probably in that order although I have to say site features are pretty extensive already. Comment here would be many posters, juding by the quesitions, are not aware of all the features that ARE available. A change of style would maybe make people look around a bit more - you know the old supermarket trick.

4. An old pigeon, but live chat - yes i know its not practical.

5. So how do we get to bribe the fedex man thats sitting on the new servers ?

1. This site and any site that has comes up as a "game" site in our filter is a "forbidden" site to my work ... so also a moot point here.

2. Can't use at work, have a premium membership, will always have a premium membership ... not applicable.

3. In order: Increased game coverage, new non-forum site features, private messaging, work friendly stylesheet.

4. Have a membership and am very pleased with it.

How about a premium members only forum?

Have the items that are occasionally "giveaways" premium members only.

Don't know if it's possible but would like to see the character profiles show what spells their class/race can get (and level) and some way of showing which ones are already in your spellbook (probably too much of an endeavor but it is on my wish list and if it's already there then chalk it up to a blonde moment).

1. No. I suppose having others see your avatar is part of the fun, but work-friendly is a good idea, especially if it were a premium feature.

2. It'd encourage me to keep my premium, so, yes, I guess.

3. A work friendly stylesheet, Private messaging, Increased game coverage, new non-forum site features.

4. Polls?

5. Other than lag issues, I'm pretty happy with the site

I don't like questions, so I will make a statement and let you figure it out.

I surf from work as is, so I don't really care if it's work friendly or not personally, but if it would get more people to give me fodder for flames during the day, I am all for it. As it is, I pay for premium because I use the sight. I am not planning to dump it any time soon.

1. Net a premium member (yet), but I like the avatars anyways. They are a good way for me to find the place I left off on a certain thread and continue reading. Also, for ones like Kelti's, they tell me to do stuff (beer and sex beer and sex).

2. Probably not.

3. PMs would be cool, but not important. Work-friendly is not important to me since I'm a college student and the only place I access the forums is from my dorm.

4. Avatars for non-premium members? Nah, then I'd probably never end up paying for membership...

5. blech

Inertia keeps me here. That and I feel like I know you guys. I frequent many different boards, all of whom serve a distinct purpose for me, but this one is most like having a kind of online conversation with relatives. You may not like all of them, you may not even enjoy hearing about the time Uncle Bill went blind and got a new glass eye for the eighty-eth time, but you still need to visit to keeps tabs on them all.

There is quite a few of you I'd like to meet in person and I was bummed I couldn't convince the wife to go down to LA to see Smash and Thundra.

All that aside, avatards, EQ related material, searches for stuff-- all of it --is not why I hang around here. I stay for the people. I stay for the dog piles on no0bs wandering in here without a clue and asking inane questions. I stay because I can't wait to see what horrrrrrible argument the liberals are going to use next to bolster their weak position. I stay because I want to know how long Flea will keep Skeeter around to do the housecleaning despite him being an accountant. I stay because someone I never suspected always ends up admitting to being homosexual, transexual, or necrophiliatic and I wanna see who's coming out next. I stay because every now and then someone like Tare or Moeb comes along and brings this place a whole new flavor. I stay because sockpuppets are entertaining in their own way. I stay because I like Limeys. And Dutchmen. And Canucks. And Hondurans. And Texans. And San Diegoans. And Northeastern liberals.

What I am trying to say is regardless of the format, cost, or layout, I'd stick around here. Even if you held me upsidedown and shook coins out of my pocket to pay for a premium membership.

/sniff

I love you guys!

You're all a bunch of fucking morons.

I'd sure appreciate the ability to tell you precisely that via Private Messages.

Oh yeah, gimme bigger avatars. Homos.

That was very touching Totem, one problem though, I ditched the accounting gig, I thought I told you guys.

Yes, quite sure of it actually. Around the same time Flea switched jobs, I grew balls and told "The Jew" that it's not working out, then I transferred to another position in the same company, one in which has 0 interaction with him, yet he still has to give me paychecks, my kind of job.

I'm curious as to when you are going to come out big boy.

I'd like it if your better half posted here as well, then we'd have time for Tom Foolery and Shenanigans while the Women of the house had their chit chats.

She has to be at least somewhat interesting, you don't seem to be the kind to marry a ditz.

No, the woman of my dreams is most definitely not a ditz. She is an incredibly capable woman, a lady who can efficiently run a company as well as a family bustling with two teenagers. She has a wonderful sense of humor, is very giving of herself in terms of her time, kindness, finances, and her love.

She is unquestionably the beautiful woman I have ever met. Why she chose such a shlup as myself, I don't know, but perhaps in a moment of weakness or pity she decided I was marriagable material. Who knew?

She's of good Dutch stock, has a Midwestern work ethic which puts to shame those who would coast through life on the back of other's efforts.

She is a momma bear defending her cubs where her kids are concerned. I'd sooner place my hand in the mouth of a rabid wolverine than step in her way if she was sticking up for her two children.

No doubt, Skeeter, she is an incredible woman!

I can't help but wonder what the reaction to this will be. I think there are a handful of less skeptical individuals on the board to whom our revelation will be followed by a quick slap to the forehead and a "I should have known!"

They would never believe me. You've cajoled me into damaging my board credibility once too often, though I can't place all of the blame squarely on your shoulders. I was a willing victim/co-conspirator of your shenanigans. I played 'Bad Cop' because I love to hear you giggling uncontrollably from the comfort of our bed.

So, no... I'm not going to try and convince them of anything, you'd fair much better in that regard. I will, however, say that I could never have found a more supportive husband or a more loving father of my children.

Very few of the readers out there will believe me, but I know one person that will. And he's the only one that matters.

I love you, and I'll be home soon.
