To all you proud U.S. citizens out there: Just in case something terrible would happen to the United States of America (Yea - of course I know that EVERY other country would be wiped out before that really happened) - just in case it did....

....which other country would you honour with your application for citizenship and why?

Actually, probably Germany, because I was at one point an exchange student there and I speak a modicum of albeit rather rusty German. That, or maybe Australia. But only if they get rid of all those !@#$%^ funnel webs first.

I guess New Zeeland would be a big hit - after all its LotR-country now ;-)

Ireland. I've always wanted to live there anyway, and I've been trying to figure a way to retire there.

In reality? Probably Canada, England or Australia since I'd probably have the least amount of culture shock there. Yeah, I'd have to get used to things like bagged milk, but at least I wouldn't have to learn to speak Albanian or anything.

In reality, Canada or Australia.

I'd love to be a citizen of a spanish-speaking culture though (not necissarily Spain or Mexico). I know enough Spanish to get me by, and those latino women - Yeeowza!

I'm thinking it would be a perfect opportunity to kick the 21st century off my back. Some place like Fiji would be cool.

I actually knew a Fijian tribal prince back in my youth. His name was Charlie Karma. Smiley: grin

Fiji would be cool. I'm not sure where I'd go, were I American and in search of new digs. I like the New Zealand option but they have big bugs there. Bugs. Yuck.

Australia or Taiwan. I love Taiwan, but Australia seems like the country more likely to survive a world war. I could just pull out a lawn chair on the north coast and watch the nuclear fireworks.

I could probably technically maybe stay in the US... if I went to Hawaii. Surely any blast that hit the continental US wouldn't reach that far... and I'd want to be somewhere nice and warm.

But if I had to pick another country, it would still have to be someplace warm. Maybe Greece? I had a friend who lived there for a while, and she kind of liked it.

Australia
Canada
New Zealand

In that order, I think. New Zealand would have come in higher, but like Tare said, they have big bugs. Really big.

Alaska... seeing as how alaskan's already pretty much consider themselves a whole different country. Yeah. I could deal with some snow. No buggies for me in Alaska.... well except for swarming mosquitos... and bee's.. and well damn.. did I mention snow? lots of it?

Bah! You'd all come crying with your tails between your legs to Canada!

And then we'd ship you up north to live on an ice float with the rest of the elderly.

New Zealand, England, Australia or Ireland...

New Zealand for it's cool people and beautiful land

England as it's the home of my ancestors and their comedy is better...

Australia for the cool people and Foster's...

Ireland for the cool people and Guinness...

I would just crawl under a bridge somewhere. My Troll ancestory instincts would take over.

You might want to know that your ancestory didn't know how to spell ancestry.

Just lookin' out for ya.

I would go somewhere, where the food is good, wine is plentiful, good musicians know how to play classic rock and where all the pretty ladies are.
