So, the way things are going, I live in very real fear of my life. I understand that these things happen in other countries, but hell, I came to the U.S. so that I wouldn't have to worry about stray bullets. Oh well. Thing is, United States policy toward Palestine is taking us down a very scary road. Israel parrots Bushisms in order to justify its methods, and the violence escalates. I realize that it's been going on for centuries, and there's probably no help for it, but I thought I'd toss it out to the board.

And by the way, I'm no anti-semite, and I really resent the crap out of people who use that argument in order to justify their support of U.S. policies.

What is most disheartening to me about the Isreal/Palestine situation (and to a larger degree, the unrest in the middle east as a whole) is that I can see no positive outcome. Not for them and not for us.

Actually, based on what I've seen in my lifetime, I can see no other outcome than continued killing, unrest, upheaval and hardship.

I really want to be wrong.

They've ben playing punch-for-punch for so long, it's ridiculous. Escalating violence in a tit-for-tat approach can't end until one side (or both!) is completely eliminated. The only thing either side seems to understand is "retributive strikes".

I don't live in fear of stray bullets, but there is a very real possibility that someone will try to attack the nuclear power plant down the road from me. Considering that I saw one of the airliners flying down the Hudson on 9/11, I'd imagine they had a pretty good view of Indian Point.

/shrug. Nothing we can do about it. We've set the standard that you can essenitally do anything you like militarily so long as you hang a sign that reads "Terrorist" on whomever you decide to kill. The fact that Hammas leader who was killed was part of the political wing will just go by as irrelevant.

It is irrelevant.

Just as Osama might be considered the political side of Al Qaeda and Haseesh Al-bin Towelhead, the guy who was supposedly surrounded in Pakistan is the operational or business end of Al Qaeda, it doesn't matter. Hamas = Al Qaeda = terror organization = worth killing just because they are involved in a nasty organization

Being nicey-nice isn't going to make them like us any more, people. Take away our support for Israel, interest in the region because of oil, whatever, they still will hate us because of degenerate things like MTV and McDonalds for what is supposedly does to their culture.

Unless you are willing to stop interacting with the world and crawl behind an inpenetrable wall you will have conflict with those people. Stop thinking the can be your friends. They can't even be each other's friends and supposedly they are all "brothers."

/rolleyes
