As usual on the morning of a patch, I can't log in due to hundreds of thousands of EQ addicts desperately clawing away at the network for their virtual fix.

Not to worry, I'm patient. But I was curious what the rest of you do during times like this. Right now I'm laid up from work with a herniated disc in my back, so I can't do any of the many things that need doing around the house (we bought it this past December).

So, I've been teaching myself to read music. I've played the guitar and banjo for some years, but have always relied on tablature (which tells you which notes to play, but not how long to hold them). Its something I should have done years ago, but now that I'm actually getting around to it, I'm finding it easier than I expected, and very enjoyable.

So what do you do at times like this?

after i've typed in my password its something like this: ENTER, Click OK, ENTER, Click OK, ENTER, Click OK, ENTER, Click OK, etc. If it doesn't work the first few hundred times then I hit one of my buddies up for some allied AoM...or more recently i've been pushing through Icewind Dale again. I bought Heart of Winter ages ago but have never made it through the original to see it yet. Just entered the dwarf caverns last night. Is it just me or does this game have striking similarities to the lord of the rings books?

anyway...collect games. lots and lots of games. its the best cure for boredom, and you can usually go spend 30-50 bucks at a used game store and get a handful of games. some are good some are bad, but all of em are usually fun to mess around with.

What could I possibly do when Everquest is down??

Soldier of Fortune2 had for some time been my other big game, but I haven't played that in over a month. Lately I've been playing a lot of PS2 with my roommates, mostly Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 and Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance 2. On occasion I'll fire up NeverWinter Nights but that game hasn't been doing much for me.

Empyre, collecting old games can be a good idea. I would kill many people for another copy of MicroProse's Gunship (the original, not Gunship2000).
