I've been infected with spyware out the wazoo and i cant seem to get rid of it. ironically the spyware ads among other things advertise spyware removal software. its really quite scummy. akin to denting your car infront of you and then offering to remove it for a fee.
i have been using updated versions of both lavasoft adaware and spybot search and destroy as well as that housecall online virus scanner you frequently link people to and i still get pop up ads. what can i possibly do to remove it? i've run all 3 programs several times and it says its removing stuff but not even a day later it will reoccur.

you've apperently got one of the bad reinfecting ones. List thenames here (of the adds they generate, what adaware calls them, etc) and I'll post a taylored nukage solution. In the mean time, try the internet explorer nuke proceedures In the thread by Plick. that should help.
under lavasoft adaware (spybot doesnt catch it) the files seem to be from Roing. the ojbect names are
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.jimmyhelp.CBrowserhelper/
for the reg key
and
c:/system volume information/_restore/e6a0c70c-708-4aa3-441a-9404-7b9cb52
for the file.
