St. Joe's is very talented but vastly overrated. My team (Illini) have no shot at winning the title, so I'm putting my money on Kentuky. Go J-Birds!

Overrated? You bet! Think they will win? Not a chance in Hell. But I'm used to rooting for a team and being shot down, I've been an Eagles fan for tooooo many years! hardy har har

Do we have to go through this again?

Lady jewelofmh and I, as Philadelphia sports fans, know true pain. Chicago? Pah! Yeah the Cubs have suffered, but the Phillies are the losingest team in all of major sports history (true - look it up). OK we had a world series win 23 years ago - the only one in the midst of more losses than any other team, including the Cubs, has ever lost. The Sixers were the last Philly team to win a championship, and that was 1983. No other city with a team in all 4 major sports has gone longer. More than 20 years now. How may championships did the Bulls win since then? The Bears? Blackhawks? Thought so.

The Eagles have never won a Super Bowl. Face it, except for a couple good streaks, the Eagles have usually been considered a push over. We still revere the only coach who even got us to the big game even though he didn't actually win it. Now we have 3 straight NFC championship losses to drown in. Eagles fans have learned to expect failure. No matter what we expect of the team, it will always fall a step short.

The Flyers? Still living on the broad street bully glory from the 70's. Almost 30 years since the last cup and we still try to say the Flyers are an elite team. Right. The typical Flyers team looks great in the regular season and then gets swept in the first or second round of the playoffs. We've just come to expect being upset like that.

Sixers? Well we have AI? And, uh, AI. OK there was an actual time when the Sixers were a world class team. We're still kind of giddy about that and it's more than 20 years later. that's how desparate we are.

So. What's it like to be a Philly sports fan? Well, we should be flying high right now. The Phillies are pre-season picks to win it all, having amazingly dominated in free agency for 2 years in a row. But we know deep down that it would take more than blowing up some stupid ball or killing a goat to get them to win one for once. The Eagles have made 3 straight NFC championship games and may well be about to sign the wide receiver they need to get over the hump. Wow. But it's the Iggles. We know they can't actually win the thing. Just another heartbreak. Flyers leading the east? Yeah they look good, but as usual the goalie just doesn't make you think he can hold it together for a run at the cup and they always look good just before they fall apart in the playoffs. And the Sixers are coming apart at the seams. AI is probably gone and we're back to rebuilding.

/sigh. Oh what the hell ........ Go Hawks!

Add to the fact that we've lost our beloved DUCE, Troy Vincent, AJ Feeley (who I always thought needed to go somewhere where he will be appreciated as the great QB he will be) and are on the verge of losing Bobby Taylor, if we don't get Terrell, we have ... well ... Donovan left. We know he can run but can he pass to himself? hehe

Done. I had to pick Air Force to win a game, so I'm probably screwed, but we'll see!

Bears: 1
Bulls: 6
Blackhawks: 0!!

The Blackhawks might as well be the feeding team for the Flyers. It seems like anytime we get a good team, we trade away all our good players. You got Zhamnov and Amonte, two of the recent best. And don't diss Sean Burke, he's been playing in the NHL for about 15 years now. Hell, he used to be minding the net for the Hartford Whalers!!

Things do look like they have taken a turn for the better up here in Chicago as far as baseball is going, though. The Cubbies resigned Maddox and now have argueably the most dangerous pitching lineup in the MLB. Just as long as Prior gets better by the time the season starts, I got a feeling we'll be seeing the Cubs back in the playoff picture again.

So maybe your right, Philly does have it worse. But hey, look at the bright side... uhhh..... the... bright.. side..... Ok, so maybe there is no bright side at the moment, but chin up, Philly fans! Waffles!

Mmmmmm-nnnnnn. Bad choice picking Mormons. Better to pick Yankee teams, especially when you think about them in the historical context where they kicked Joey Smith's and his thirteen wives' a$$e$ out of state.

Who would have thought that Philly would be cheering today ...
