Divine Divinity ?

I picked this up at Fry's for $30 despite the questionable graphics and insight to gameplay the package (and later manual) showed at first glance. Later I started to realize the manual and installation were very well put together. The character selection interface made me wonder about the graphics quality as well.

Getting into gameplay I found this to be an AWESOME game. As I played I could feel elements of many games I had played recently..EQ, Diablo2, Morrowind, NWN, etc. Its a very well put together game, the graphics in game are beautiful (to say the least), and its a great way to fill time in while the servers are down or when you can't find a group. I've even taken to playing it over EQ until I see enough of its content (there are HOURS and HOURS of it).

Interested to hear what others think of it too tho. Only issue I have had is with crashes...which are totally fixed by downloading the 10MB patch from the support site. I strongly recommend doing that BEFORE you start a game if your trying. I got about 17 hours into it then patched...all the stats (everything except item name) were stripped from everything I had touched in game afterwards :(

BTW, hate to hijack, but speaking of old fantasy games, has anyone played Stonekeep before? Awesome old game with hours of gameplay.

Speaking of which, does anyone know where I can download it or buy it? Besides eBay?

Brownie points WILL be awarded....

I used to play Divine Divinity myself, but given my playing style, I only found the Survivor the most viable of the three. The graphics, gameplay, and depth are great, but I only wish it was more user-friendly when it comes to death and such.

I hope Larian make some good improvements with Beyond Divinity.

Yeah, its single player...no multiplayer. I played survivor at first...was almost unfair at times as I could load up on stamina potions, crouch into a sneak and in a lot of cases pummel a large enemy without them even moving an inch. After having to wipe out my savegames, I started a Warrior and advanced him using traits from all 3 (gave him some invis, alchemy, some mage elemental attacks for range, trueshot, blacksmithing, etc.)

he's level 27 now and almost seems unstoppable after raiding the barracks armory before the Capt. Milix quest. I just wait for orcs to gather around and swing out 2 spin attacks and everyones dead.

Not sure what the highest level limit is..game doesn't really say, but I hope theres enough content to keep him leveling enough to advance more skillsets out. I have yet to venture up north into that city zone.

I think they will do better with Beyond Divinity. I was really impressed with how they put the game together...gave me faith they knew how to make a game..now with a little cash in their pockets I hope they will go even further.

Yeah, I'm in Oakland...not surprised I payed more than I should have. I always end up doing that. :(

I don't mind paying a few extra bucks though..it was worth the money and I'll gladly support the makers of a game I enjoy. One day hopefully I learn to spend a little smarter, but until then impulsive and compulsive behavior pwn me.

I know the feeling all too well. Summers and winters are always plague with compulsive and impulse buying on my part. Only this time, I went further and preordered some of the hottest upcoming games of 2004.

For now, I have Silent Storm & Spellforce at the home PC, EQ of course, and all my Xbox games on hand atm, until Ninja Gaiden comes leaping in next week.
