Planning for a trip to Rome and London means looking for great galleries and museums to visit. I have spent all day working myself into a art-induced frenzy in anticipation of all the great things I'll be seeing. I love art. Here are a few of my favorite artists:

Modigliani

Brancusi

Kahlo

Klimt

I could go on all day.

Who are some of your favs? Come on..what's hanging on your walls? Even if you are this guy.

And if you hate art, well, meh.

I have a copy of John constable's 'Haywain' that was painted by my very talented father for me. i also have a painting of H.M.S Montrose, a ship i served on which is very nice to.

I like realism rather than expresionism, i also like Rodney Matthews, Susan Van Camp and Pete Venters <Magic the gathering Artists> and Simon Cadwell <TSR> has done some pretty spectacular work too.

I have a print of Helnwein's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" above my bed, and my own drawings mounted elsewhere.

Cool, Debalic. I dabble a little myself, but nothing I'd be willing to post here. Do you do mostly sketching?

I used to have an art history professor who felt that people only liked Impressionism because it was safe and didn't challenge anything. You know, mostly just "Hey, nice water lillies." I still enjoy Impressionism (Cezanne and Renoir being favorites) but always feel like a bit of a plebeian for doing so Smiley: wink

I drew for about 2 years in high school. The only worthwhile pieces I got matted and hung on my wall (all of 3 drawings).

I love the masters, of course, Rembrandt, Michelangelo, El Greco... but I also like Chagall, Mucha, Dali, de Lempicka, love folk catholicism icons and paintings, especially representations of the Earth/Mother/Virgin.

I also paint and draw since I was a kid, so most of the art I hang is mine, since it's free.

Pablo Picasso

This is by no means an all inclusive list.

I tend to be somewhat uncultured when it comes to high art.

Try to make it over to Liverpool if you can. There are several VERY nice Art Galleries and Museums there. One even servers a very tastey breakfast and good coffee.

I like a lot of the old dead people like Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh (Stary Night Sky is one of my favorites)and so on.

I absolutely love the work of Larry Elmore. He is my favorite current day artist type. I also like[link=www.keithparkinson.com/]Keith Parkinson[/link]and a lot of other fantasy artists.

That's the great thing about art - you don't have to be cultured to enjoy it. My thread title was slighty tongue-in-cheek because I really just wanted to know what kinds of artists you enjoy.

I have been to Liverpool before and, yes, they have great galleries there. I will be in London Mar 12th and 13th and am planning on National Gallery, Tate Modern and probably V & A. Two whole days of looking at art, with Guiness in between. That's heaven! Anyone wanna meet for a pint? Smiley: sly

Lol. I have to wonder how that would go...

"Hey, honey, I'm just heading out to have some drinks with a girl I met on an online forum. Won't be late!"

Heh. Heh.

See what you have to do is take him with you and group up with Tarv. You then slay many a pint of GuinessSmiley: boozing. You really want to do this because there is a faction modifier for sharing pints with BF and another girl.

1 Pint = Faction standing with BF gets better!!!Smiley: yippee

Hope this helps Smiley: grin

1. i am in the Navy and hang out with some very wierd individuals at the best of times so the wife would probably not notice 1 more odd drinking partner

Went to a tiny gallery/studio space on EspaƱola Way in South Beach, saw some interesting art. One of the artists drew like he was insane, which I love (if you're ever in Baltimore, check out the Visionary Art Museum), but others did this type of Rothko ***** that bores me.

Skeet and I both liked this guy. My favorite was a study of poppies that isn't on the website.

Cool Flea. The last stuff reminded me of old frescos. I actually like Rothko. His work is basic to the extreme, but I get a feeling from them. Hot. Cold. Happy. Sad. It's someone more than just block of color. Like Mondrian. Yay!

Yeah, I can see where it had artistic merit, because he was actually experimenting, but I hate all the fanboys that are still "exploring the possibilities" of dripping paint and such. I want to tell them to grow some creativity and come up with something new, or at the very least deviate from blocks and drips.

I'm not a minimalist, though. I love ornamentation.
