A friend just burnt a copy of Audioslave's album for me and I'm listening to it now at work. I have to to say it is incredible. I was always a fan of Soundgarden, so CP is coo wit' me.

For a guy that's almost 4,000 years old, you sure have shitty taste in music.

You're too old to like trendy groups. Then again, maybe I, the self-proclaimed corporate music *****, shouldn't be criticizing.

Didn't Soundgarden start out as a blatant rip-off of Pearl Jam? I have vague recollections of Soundgarden from my youth, and it seems to me that every time one of their songs came on, I couldn't tell the two bands apart.

Jack Johnson is the man. I find that the vast majority of my music-listening time is spent enjoying music that would be appropriate on a beach.

Oh, and Jack White is pretty damn good too. But I'm scared to like anything trendy, because I feel self-conscious (to the point that I actually blush) about doing anything which could be perceived by others as an attempt on my part to appear 'cool', 'with it', 'hip', 'groovy', or whatever the contemporary equivalent of the aforementioned terms happens to be at the moment.

Temple of the Dog is most likely part of the reason you can't tell the bands apart, Thundra.

A musical experiment that truly had no positive outcomes.

I like the lyrics of the one song I've heard by Audioslave, but Chris Cornell's voice ( and the fact that they STILL play it at least once every 30 minutes ) is enough to make me want to put my head in a blender.

Come to think of it, it'd probably sound just about the same.

Whatcha talking about? This is a terrific album. And I'm not 4,000 years old, just 3,890.

To my knowledge, Soundgarden was putting out albums when Eddie Vedder was still in Green River.

You could stick Chris Cornell in a polka group and I would still love it. There is no denying that voice.

While soundgarden isnt my favorite band, i still love their music...but i cant stand audioslave. Cornell sounds like he needs some cough drops, or at the least a glass of water. Hell even his mediocre solo album (euphoria morning) was better. remove chris from audioslave and put zach back in, and it would sound no different than a rage album. perhaps their second album will be better, after theyve had a chance to grow.

CC sounds like he is reaching a lot on the album. I enjoy it, but the band really isn't as good as it's parts would suggest. Tom Morello's guitar is still wicked strong, but it's almost too competitive under Cornell's wail.

BTW: Hunger Stike is still one of my favorite songs from the 90's, but other than that ToTD really wasn't worth the $15.

As much as I loved RATM, Bacaba, I'd rather that Zach de la Rocha didn't come back to the band. Did you hear the filth they called "Renegades of Funk"? GAWD that CD was awful.

But Audioslave is a different story. At first, I was pissed at them cause I was still mourning the loss of Rage. But after a while, the music grows on you. It's not the same upbeat, hard hitting style, but I have recently been getting into the more musical side of music (Foo Fighters, Eagles, Dave Matthews Band). Their stuff fits right in to my new music listening trends.

PS: Soundgarden >> Pearl Jam

With the exception of that song, Twiz, I really enjoy the album. Ghost of Tom Joad is top 10 Rage for me, even though it is a remake. The live cut with Cypress Hill at the end on Kill a Man? Pretty damn cool.

I love the Foo. They get a lot more playtime on my speakers these days than a lot of other stuff. Great to see live, too.

Soundgarder >> Pearljam (except Ten)

Pearljam 10 >> a whole hell of a lot of stuff.

Smiley: smile

EDIT: Yeah, got it on right now and OMG Morello is a madman. Takes the simple POS riff on street fightin man and turns it in to gold.

agree. I can't believe you think his voice sucks Dall, but of course, to each their own.

I always felt Chris Cornell had the ultimate metal voice.
You want to hear the quintessential Chris Cornell song, try to find/download "Birth Ritual". Unbelievable.

I was actually refering to the entire album there, Moe. But I will agree with you that The Ghost of Tom Joad is an awesome song. I guess I'm just too much of a old school Rage fan.
