Just found out that the !@#$%^&*( %%^@$#^%$@#^%#$^@%$ ^@%#&@ @# *@&^*&@^# *@&^#*&^@ monky #^%$@%$& $@^%$#@^% &^@%&#^@%&#@ sucking $@#^%@$#&^%@&^%#&^%&^%@$&^%@&^ pieces of #%^@$^%#$^%@#$^#@ damn toad licking $@#%$@^%#$^%@$ &@%^#&@ ^%@^*@&^* rutabega %$@#^%$@^%#^$#@^%@# &*^#*&^#$*&@%^@%%@%@ @^@^@ cat rapeing cable company tech lied to me. The ******* did not actually schedule a work order, he only put in a "reccomendation". So when my cable went out yet again while I was attepting to be online, and I called the cable company, they were rather suprised to hear that there should have been done by last friday. According to them, there was no plans to ever fix it before I called in again.

Now there is a confirmed work order in, but they say that won't be done for another 3-5 buisiness days. Given that Monday is a holliday in the U.S., that may not be until the monday after the next. 10 whole days of dropped internet connections, on top of the week I have already gone through. I can't make up my mind weather I want to just cry, or go down o the cable company and just start shooting people in the foot until one of them gets off their sorry asses and fixes the damn line.

I am this close to going out there and doing it myself.

Anyone know where I can buy an m1-a2 Abrahms? I'll settle for an old soviet T-72 if I can't get an Abrahms. Preferably one of the 120mm barrel mod variants.

I just need to borrow it for a few hours. I'll bring it back, honest!

Are they going to at least credit you for your time offline?

I know you probably don't give a flying rat's *** about that right now, just give you service, but it seems like the least they could do...

I would certainly demand the credit (sure wish it worked that way with EQ for my down time).

Unfortunately that doesn't help much. Ours was disconnecting every time it rained for a while and they told us the problem was IN THE HOUSE. I told them it didn't rain IN the house too often, but they weren't impressed. Oh guess what, it didn't end up being in the house, or even near the house, and it took them forever to fix it, but I think they gave us 2 months free.

Love those hearts Kao.

Not sure if you "for sure" know the issue with your modem. But I had random dropped connections once when I switched to my cable modem, and it turned out that I needed to download new mods from the cable modems manufacturer. The existing cable modem was known to conflict with winxp causing it to lose connection randomly. It stumped me for a month, because the symptoms showed were just like it was losing cable connection outright. It would work for hours sometimes, and a full day other times. Was so random, that I never thought it would have been client side.

Just a thought. But like I said, you may already have the issue nailed down.

The cable modem tech hooked a fancy digital sine wave tester box worth approximatly $1000 based on shere weight of parts alone into the line, and it said the problem was with the line. He then hooked it up to the box outside, and it said the problem was with the main cable trunk line. At least 5 other people are also being affected though they appereently have not called it in.

Anyone have a line on some plutonium? I just need a small amount...

**** asking for credit for your downtime. Get a month worth of credit. They can do this, I used to do it all the time when customers were (rightfully so) pissed off. The $50 they credit you doesn't mean jack to them.

/comfort Kao

Did you ever look into getting a cheap dial-up modem?

I didn't, because I thought this was going to be over and done with by Friday, and I don't have a free pci slot in the main box. even with that half hight geforce fx5900, I've still got them all filled in, so I would probably have to go with an external. That, and the phone junction near my computer needs repaired (the connector is cracked, and the wireing is corroded.

My thinkpad 770z has a built in modem, but the processor isn't fast enough to run any games. I wonder if you can bridge a dail up connection over a network? It's been so long since I've played with the world of dial up.

Anyone know of a decent cheap usb modem?
